Hi, I haven't been to any weddings in the summer and was wondering what other peoples experience with summer weddings were. My reception and ceremony would be in the evening at the Fox Hollow. Ceremony outdoors if weather permiting. I wouldn't want my guests or myself to be all hot and uncomfortable. I was thinking of changing the date to a Sept 9 or 16.

Re: HELP! July 8 too HOT?
July definitely hot. Sept is much cooler. But since it's in the evening it will be much cooler then afternoon.

Re: HELP! July 8 too HOT?
I'm getting married on the same day! I'm also really worried about the weather being hot but we'll be inside the reception hall for the whole wedding with the AC blasting (hopefully!) so everyone told me not to worry. What I'm really worried about is when we are outdoors taking our pictures before the ceremony. My poor BM's and i in our dresses and my FH and the GM's in their tuxes! I'm praying for good weather! Not too hot but absolutely no rain!

Re: HELP! July 8 too HOT?
July is definitely hot. My friend got married fourth of July weekend a couple of years ago and it was tough taking pictures outside with the BP. We looked terrible and it was uncomfortable. It was also abnormally hot that year, and the AC broke in the facility which didn't help.
But, it's your day. I happen to love the hot weather and if I could have convinced DH to get married in the summer I would have...but he didn't want to sweat on his wedding day. If you feel better having it in September, try to change it...if not, millions of brides get married in the summer - has to be popular for a reason!!!!

Re: HELP! July 8 too HOT?
I think summer weddings are fine, but a little too hot to have things outdoors for me. I went to a july wedding that had the cocktail hour outside & i was sweating my butt off & the guys in their suits were really complaining. i also don't think it would be too good for any elderly guests. if you could keep things indoors in the AC, I think that would be better for most folks. jmho! or if your heart is set on things outside, switch to Sept- that's usually pleasant weather for most people.

Im getting married July 8th and last July 8th was beautiful! It is a chance, but I would rather get married in the summer when I am off from work!

Re: HELP! July 8 too HOT?
Thank you all for the advise. I just started planning and my family and friends keep saying it will be so hot and now I feel like changing the date. Now I'm afraid there will be a heat wave then and we'll all be sweating and cranky. That will be a complete nightmare! I think i will look into changing months because I don't know if Fox Hollow has good AC seeming like it's an older facility.

a hall without sufficient AC would not be in business, I don't think you need to worry about that.

You'll be fine either time! I chose July because I hate the rain. I also love summer & heat. It rains in Sept more. PIck your poison, right?

Re: HELP! July 8 too HOT?
you should be fine. Im having an august wedding and Im praying that we dont have another heat wave like last year. My ceremony and coctail hour are outdoors, if it rains or is just to hot we have the option of moving it inside

Re: HELP! July 8 too HOT?
I am getting married July 7th and I am having my ceremony and CH outside. The ceremony starts at 7 though so I am hoping it won't be too hot or gross out. If it does then, oh well, we will be inside.

Re: HELP! July 8 too HOT?
my wedding was on 7/8/06
it was a BEAUTIFUL sunny, 80 degree day!
however, july 8, 2005 was a torrential rain storm

Re: HELP! July 8 too HOT?
our 7/7/06 wedding had great weather. not too hot at all. weather is always a chance, nobody can predict it for you. i definitely wouldnt worry about your hall's AC, i am sure it will be more than sufficient. dont listen to people complain about the possible weater of your wedding day! no matter what day you pick, people WILL find something to complain about.

Re: HELP! July 8 too HOT?
I am getting married 7-4-08 and having the ceremony in a church that has AC and the CH and reception in a RH that has AC so I am not worrying...its just the pics that will be outside...so only that 1-2 hours.

Re: HELP! July 8 too HOT?
You should be fine. Ours is July 29 so we are smack in the middle of that CRAZY heat that starts middle of July and runs through middle of August. -shrugs- Im not worried. The ceremony is a half hour long. Ive suffered through years of family reunions, baby showers, drunken friends banging on my door...they can survive for a little while.
if you are doing an outdooor ceremony, you could have parasols/umbrellas on the tables-might give some shade and reprieve. Or supply little spritz bottles on the table in cute packaging-people will find it quirky.
Also...I know I was concerned about my pics lookign greasy faced beause of heat so as an option, we are having them taken BEFORE the ceremony. FH and I live together anyway so its not like we have to avoid seeing each other before we walk down the aisle AND it gives us a few minutes alone for him to tell me EXACTLY how he feels about me in my gown without the relatives within hearing distamce :) Might be an option for you before things heat up too much.

Re: HELP! July 8 too HOT?
I am getting married at Fox Hollow (too) on July 27th. I was worried about the heat but I realized that we'll all be in the reception hall for most of the time. I want an outdoor ceremony, and they told me I could tell them the day of whether it would be indoors or outdoors. As for the pictures I've heard that the staff at Fox Hollow is really good at making sure there are drinks and food around even during the pictures. Also my photographer/videographer told me that even if it is boiling hot that there are plenty of beautiful places at FH to take pictures.
And my last ditch effort for outdoor pictures is that I might send everyone else inside and make FH suffer with me outdoors.
oh yeah....i'm also praying that since I'm having an evening wedding that it'll be cooler by then....

You cannot predict the weather. You have just as much of a chance of it raining or being really hot in early September -- so go with the date that works for you.

Re: HELP! July 8 too HOT?
i got married july 2 and had the ceremony out doors on the beach and the cocktail hour outside as well.
we did it in the morning so it wasnt too hot out side.
i would suggest a late day ceremony for you since u are having a night wedding so it is not too hot for your guests!
