Hi everyone, I'm a new poster but I've been lurking about on the boards for months. My fiance and I have decided to move up our wedding date *yipee!!** and we're hoping to do it before the end of the year. The catch is we have little $$ and a small guest list. Anyone know of inexpensive venues that don't require guest minimums? We would like a casual atmosphere, some good food and dancing but nothing over the top. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!!! -Stacy

Are you open to a Sunday? When I was looking at places it seemed that places are a lot more flexible with minimums on Sundays.

If you don't mind Greek food, look into Laterna in Bayside, Queens. They have their own Greek music on weekend evenings, but it is VERY loud.

I went to a wedding at Eisenhower Park palm court. There was about 75 people there. Very beautiful. Is 11/15 your date? It is mine...are we date twins?

I don't want to burst your bubble but you might have an issue finding a place with less than 3 - 4 months to go. All the popular venues were probably booked months or even a year ago. I would just grab the phone book and start calling venues to see if they have your date available and go look at them. I hope you do find something that suits you but I just wanted to let you know just in case. Good Luck.

Re: help LI brides!!!
yeah thats kind of the idea tho...we don't want a 'popular' venue. We want something small and casual. We had fox hollow booked 2 years ahead of schedule and now we're cancelling so I know people give up dates darnit...lol and we're open to whatever time frame the right place has to offer

How about a really nice restaurant? LI has great restaurants. If you have your heart set on a 'real' RH then that might not work for you but it's a thought.

Bella Verde in Deer Park is really nice. It is Suffolk county, and on the golf course. My stepbrother got married there with your size wedding and it was gorgeous!!!

Re: help LI brides!!!
Try
Cafe on the Green -- Bayside La Piazza-- Merrick Dominico's -- Levittown Ambrosia -- Farmingdale Wickers -- Hicksville Novita -- Garden City
all are restaurants that have private rooms and should be able to accommodate a dance floor

I booked with only 3-4 months to go too! Don't let anyone tell you different, as long as you are flexible, you can find a date ANYWHERE. Seriously, EVERY place we looked at had dates open (even the ones you wouldn't think). Booking in such a short time frame also helps LOTS with negotiation. You can have a much lower price and a MUCH lower minimum than anyone else. The RH's don't think they will use that date so they will be happy to make some money!
