Re: HELP ME
They shouldn've force you to put a deposit down... just make sure you stress that you're JUST LOOKING... they should back down... I didn't come across any catering hall that was pushy like that... they all understood we were looking!
Good luck! I miss doing that stuff!

Re: HELP ME
Just what you said, that you are still looking and will be in touch with them with any other questions or a decision.
Most of them know you will be looking at several places and may want to come back for a second look.
Don't give in to the pressure!!! And if they are really awful about it, I would tell them that was the reason you would NOT book with them. (unless you really love it).

Re: HELP ME
The ones that I have visited were not pushy about putting down a deposit. Be careful though, the dates get snatched up quick! My hall held the date for us for a week, until we made our final decision. I think you will be fine. Don't get pressured into anything! Don't sign anything until you are absolutely sure you are in love with the right catering hall. GOOD LUCK! and welcome to the boards!

Re: HELP ME
They won't push you. Every hall I went to told me that they encourage looking around. They will ask you where else you have been, though.

Re: HELP ME
Be honest. Tell them that you have just started looking and want to see some other places before committing. If they get pushy it always makes me think twice about if these are people that I want to work with in planning one of the biggest days in my life. Most places that are secure with what they have to offer will understand that this is not a decision that couples take lightly and will have no problem with your desire to look further. Of course this is JMO. In the end just don't let people pressure you into doing anything that you are not ready to do. Good Luck and keep us posted.

Re: HELP ME
JAR823, I just wanted to say that my cousin got married at Majestic Gardens, and the food was amazing! We had the filet mingon, and it was to die for, the best I ever had. The vienesse and cocktail hour was awesome. Just my 2 cents.

Re: HELP ME
Just tell them that you are just looking - ask for a price and what they can do for you. Let them know that. If you find a place you REALLY LIKE, just ask them to hold the date about a week or so. Most are more than willing to hold it for you for a little while. Make sure you see ALL possibilities before you fork over the cash - you don't want to loose the deposit!!

They shouldn't be pushy because they'll just push you away.

Re: HELP ME
we looked at tons and never got pushed - if they push you then its not meant to be....keep that attitude and you'll be better off.....remember that if they push you now, they will push you the whole time, and its your day so you call all the shots.....they shoudl want you asa a customer and treat you kindly, you are planning on spending a huge amount of money (this isn't just a pair of pants!) so they should know you are going to compairson shop....besides, w/o comparison shopping how would you bargain them down?? (hee hee!)
