Girls What Should I do

I already booked my Ceremony/Reception, but thats it, I am getting married September 10, 2004, Oh God. What I am really trying to do is save until the end of Augest for my hall so that is done. Than starting September do the photography in September Videography in Octobor so on and so forth. But i feel like a idiot i am doing all this reserch on vendors but i am not sure if i am doing it the right way by waiting until September all of vendors still have my date available it is on a friday which makes it a little better. Do you gals think this is a bad way to start

Personally I think it is better to book the vendors with the deposit and then save. This wawy you have a better chance of getting the vendors you want. I am getting married the week before you and already missed the photographer I wanted

I'm a little confused. Are you waiting until the end of August to pay for your hall in full or just the deposit?

(I'm getting married the Friday before you!) If you have a plan, stick with it. We booked the hall, photographer & band within a month of eachother...but that was only b/c we only wanted the particular photographer & band that we booked - we weren't interested in anyone else. And I also wanted to get those major bookings out of my head. I'm saving interviewing florists for September - a few people on here suggested that...going at that time, I will be able to see what's available for me the following year.

I agree with jenny. I am getting married a week after you and I have had all my major vendors (church, hall, videographer, photographer, DJ and limos) by last April. I booked early because I did not want to hear that the vendors that I wanted were already booked for my day and also I booked them at 2002 prices not 2003 or 2004 prices.

my engagement was only 10 months, so I booked everything in less time than you would be if you started this Aug/Sept. And you already have the ceremony/reception.

But I don't really see the reason to wait. What are you saving for, to pay things off as your book? If you know particular vendors you want, you should secure them now with deposits - particularly the photographer and band/DJ.

Most places won't ask you for the big chunk of remaining balance until a month before your wedding. You really have over a year to save for everything except the deposits, which are usually around $500 for each thing you book. If you don't have specific preferences and are flexible with who you get as vendors, wait if you want.
Places will turn you away if they are booked, but you will never run out of vendors, just maybe the ones that are most popular.
I'm getting married in May, and I just want to be DONE with all my planning so I'm even doing the limo's and flowers now ever though I don't have to. Whatever is less stressful for you.
