I have to choose a poultry dish for our reception and am really stuck. The choice is between a chicken dish (with a sherry wine sauce, fresh asparagus and mozzerella cheese) or duck with a choice of sauces. More people eat chicken, but my parents think duck is a nice alternative, what do you think? Please help! Thanks so much!

I would go with Chicken- duck could be iffy in a catering situation- JMO.

I don't think too many people eat duck. I'd def. go for the chicken, otherwise you'll have hungry guests if they don't like to eat red meat.

I definitely say the chicken dish...you have to be a lover of duck to order that dish.....think of how many people would eat that.....I know I would rather eat chicken!! Good luck in making your decision!!

yumm... the chicken. I went to a wedding at the watermill and had that exact dish as dinner and it ws yummy!

I would say chicken--in fact that is the chicken dish that I am picking for my poultry choice b/c I heard it is so good!

I absolutely love duck! I think it adds a nice special something since it's a bit different. I'm having two duck choices for my cocktail hour but like the other ladies said, I would probably stay away from using it as an entree. As much as I like it and it's my wedding, I fear that a lot of people will not go for it.
IMO, the safe choice is chicken.

DUCK!!!!! I LOVE duck!! My FIL's recently went to a wedding where they served duck.. and it was actually a big hit! If people dont like it they will pick the meat or the fish dish...

I agree that chicken is the safe bet. We will have some duck at our cocktail hour just to mix things up a bit!

i am soo partial to duck. it has more flavor then the traditional chicken dishes. i think i may swap one of the fish dishes at my wedding to duck which is on there resturant menu.
edit to say i also have a chicken dish besides the duck that i want to add so i will have both as choices.
