Help me figure out how I can honor a friend

So I have a very good friend of mine but I didnt put her in the bridal party because I had to make the cut somewhere. I feel really bad that I didnt add her and then casually talking today about something she said oh I dont know I never was a bridesmaid (she didnt say this in a mean or sarcastic way) so now I feel even worse. Any ideas what I can do to make her feel like even though she isnt part of my bridal party that I love her and she is special to me.

Maybe she can do a reading at the ceremony? Or maybe she would like to give a toast at the reception.

I'm having the same problem. My oldest friend isn't in my wedding party bc she isn't very reliable and I know she can't afford it. But we've been friends for 20+ years. I'd love to know ways to make her feel special at my wedding.

Ask her to where something blue and she is the blue in the something old, new, borrowed, blue.

The reading is also a good idea. Or you can ask her to wear the same colors as the bridesmaids and she can be honorary, or maybe give her a flower/corsage to hold, or let her walk down with the ushers?

same thing here - had to cut the list somewhere - my cousins are in their 30's - not a big deal - one is not married (not a big deal but i feel bad - long story with that..)- the others son is the ring bearer - and my cousin who isn't married is very upset that I didn't ask her - she lives in california and although we talk and are close I felt like a reading at the church would be special for her to do. I actually feel terrible about it...i wish i asked her - I think its too late now. She made a big deal about it at my engagement party, and I feel like now it is past the point of even reaching out and asking her.
I regret not asking her....

edit - we aren't on bad terms either after this

Exactly this!!!!

I like the idea of asking her to do a reading at the ceremony. That is normally reserved for special people like family members and close friends, so it doesn't seem like she is an afterthought like you are trying to make up something for her.

LOVE this idea! I think that would be really special in addition to having her do a reading

My friend decided to keep her BP only family (which I appreciate honestly since I'm in a wedding in sept 2014 and then her wedding is oct 2014 and mine is in dec... that's A LOT of money) so she wants to honor us by getting us a brooch or a hair pin (which ever we prefer) as a way to make us stand out :)

This. Corsage is too much I think, like you regret not having her in it and the toast is the MOH's job. Reading is perfect or she can hand out programs

I have the same issue. I am only having my sister as my MOH. I have two Best Friends, I was a BM for one of them. I have order them corsages. but at a loss for what else to do. I have asked my mom and my sister to have them involved in the shower.

Same situation here too. My friend is doing both readings and I'm thinking of her being my 'something blue' as well. I am ordering her a corsage (as well as 2 other important people not in the BP). She is invited to the rehearsal dinner and I will be giving her a special gift. I will also arrange with the photographer to take a special picture of us together, as we've been friends for a very long time.

I already have my readers. Im thinking of doing the something blue. Its a cute way to let her know shes special to me. I think I will also be inviting her to the rehearsal dinner and give her a little gift.

I'd say def a something blue! I did this to include one of my best friends who I didn't ask to be a BM. She has her own special role and I will be having her sign the marriage license as my witness. She will be wearing a blue dress.
