I tried to book Old westbury gardens to take pictures after church, but they told me that they are not excepting any wedding parties for that day because of a special event being held on that day. What luck I have.....
Where else can I go?

Since you are having your reception in Queens, have you thought about Brooklyn Botantical Gardens? Also, Rockaway Beach has a park down by Marine Bay bridge, past 116th - it is an ocean park which would make for spectacular pictures.

The planting fields is really beautiful - my friend did some of her photos there and they came out really nice. Just make sure you ahve good directions - the limo driver got lost!

I just wanted to add - BBG is really hard to get to. I live in that area now and used to live in Ozone Park (right by Russo's) and definitely do not recommend that commute to anyone! Flatbush Ave is HORRIBLE!
I miss Queens!
The Queens Botanical Gardens may be better - but Queens Boulevard is another headache.
Argh, I hate traffic!

I think I'm just going to do the planting fields. They are available on my day. My photographer doesn't want me to do the queens botanical gardens. Not much to do there.

We took our pictures at the vanaderbilt mansion in centerport. I don't know if that is to far for you but I thought i would mention it.

I think I knwo wha tthe specail event is. The Long Island Scottish games are usually at the end of August. Ttrust me, you wouldn't want to go there on your wedding day--Bag pipers & old men throwing telephone polls . . and sheep. . .did I mention the sheep. . .

Yea, the lady at OWG tried to explain to me the 'speacial event' but I was too shocked to listen to her.
But everyone says the planting fields is just as nice. I've never been there, but I heard all good things.
Anyone had any bad experiences there?

Hey..we are also getting married at Russo's on wanted a place to take pics. We first had OWG in mind, but are now realizing it would be too much money for fee and extra limo time.
A few ppl suggested Queens Botanical Gardens. This is the info:
Wedding Photograph Fees:
Main Garden only: $100 per hour Wedding Garden: $150 includes half hour in the Wedding Garden and one hour in Main Garden.
