Help me keep my cats off the couch!

Help me keep my cats off the couch!

Does anyone have tips on how to keep my cats off of the furniture? I have tried the 'stay off' sprays that are supposed to deter them and the did not work. Someone told me to put aluminum foil on the couch and that would keep them off. Well, I tried that one morning and when I got home from work it looked like it had snowed silver snowflakes all over my house. They shredded it! The problem is they only do it when we are not home so I have not been able to catch them in the act.

Unfortunatley I dont think there is much that you can do, besides putting boxes on top so it would be impossible for them to be on it....
Why not just put sheets over the couches so they dont get ruined and take them off when you have company?

Regi,
I just wanted to say thank you so much for this suggestion. I can not believe how well it worked!!

I tried it using regular packing tape (that's what we had around the house) I put a few pieces on the back, arms, and seat of the couch with the sticky sides up. I first day I came home and there were pieces of tape all over the house but no cat hair on the furniture I could not believe it!! That happened 2 or 3 days but now they don't go near it!! I just leave one small piece of tape on the throw blanket I keep on the back of the couch just in case (it was their favorite place to sleep )

Thank you again!!!

another way to keep them off is to use tin foil...same idea as the tape....but it looks kind of funky
