I know Im stressing over such a silly thing, hubby thinks so. I have an appointment to see Dr. Kreiner, who is in Plainview, and I live in Coram. I was referred my by gyno to go to him. Now I have 2 co-workers who go to a place in Port Jeff. I dont remenmber the name, Long Island Fertility and Endocronology. It is much closer, and is a Center of Excellence on my insurance, and Dr. Kreiner is covered, but not if they have to do any anastesia. Should I go with the place that is closer and has 2 great referrals, or stick with my appointment that my gyno recommended. I know Im stressing over NOTHING. Hubby says I should go with the closer doctor in case I have early appointments. Anyone have any experience with any of these places?? Thanks

Re: Help me make a decision??
I dont have any experiences with any of those places, I live in NJ, but just from my own experiences, I would go with the closer one..you may have early appts, I did and its a pain in the *** if ya have to drive far. Hope this helps!!

Re: Help me make a decision??
Well, I travelled to Kreiner from Patchogue. It wasn't too bad, especially now that I travel to Manhattan
I would go to your appt with Kreiner, and make an consult appt with the other place, and then decide on who you like best. Trust me, convenience should not be the important factor here!

And I dont think its silly to stress over, its smart to stress over, because fetrility appts kind of take over and you need a place thats convenient. It will make life that much easier! My place has offices all over NJ, but only ONE of thsoe offices is open on weekends..so I went to the one down the street during the week and if I had to go in on a weekend, I had drive to the one open, that was far and it really sucked!!!

Let me just add that I heard Kreiner is opening (or has opened) offices in E Setauket and West Islip, so ask about that...

I would say go to the closer one...you have heard good things about that office right? I had a friend that went to a specialist in the Port Jeff area and she has 3 kids now (I can't remember his name)
Location does help, especially when you have early appointments and when your DH has to drop off samples the office will be close to home.

Re: Help me make a decision??
the doctor I think your reffering to in Port Jeff is Gustavo San Roman. He practices with my obgyn-- I have to say that the office is very advanced and I have heard many good things about him. I also live in Coram and I switched Dr's for the reason of not traveling for appointments and traveling when I was in labor. If I were you though, I would try both.

I switched to Dr. San Roman in Stonybrook, not because he is closer, but because I felt I did not 'click' with the Dr's I was seeing.
An RE is a very vital part in your path to conceive. IMO it should be more of who's protocall suits you best rather than the distance.

I made an appointment with the one in Port Jeff., and will go to both and see how my consult goes, and make my decision from there. Thanks for your opinions. All I wanted for Xmas this year was to tell my family and friends I was going to have a baby
