Help Me Pick a Hotel

Since we don't live in NY anymore (now in Washington DC), we will have a lot of out of town guests at our Long Island wedding. Our ceremony is in Bellerose/Floral Park and the reception is in Smithtown.

I don't know if I should block rooms at a hotel in Smithtown or find one in between the church and reception.

Many people will drive up on Saturday morning and I hate that people will have to drive 45 mins past the church to the hotel to get dressed just to go back to the church. (We will be providing a shuttle between both sites and hotel.)

Am I being crazy? I need help.

I think I had responded to your post the other day and suggested the idea of the Smithtown hotel (or very near).

How long is the gap between the ceremony and reception? Some guests might drive to the Church, then hop in the car and check into the hotel, relax, shower, change, etc before the reception. (Especially since most hotels have a check in time of around 3 PM).

ETA... and honestly there are going to be those guests that just to to the RH.. it sounds like the OOT guests are mostly friends you've made in DC. There will most likely be some who just go to the RH especially since it is a long drive from DC. Maybe keep that in mind.
