Help me pick a Rec Hall!

I posted this on BHB too, if you have any input let me know

If you have been to a wedding at any of these sites or planning a wedding at any, let me know how it was (or why you chose the site). I just can't decide :

1) Thatched Cottage - loved the outside, great menu and offerings, loved the BM, awesome price.

2) Bayview House at Capt Bills - really LOVED the building, outside area a bit small, also very good price.

3) Harbor Club - really liked the outside, good price, nice interior, also good menu, FH likes this one best.

I can't decide. Me and FH did all these ranking systems and these three are all tied up!

Re: Help me pick a Rec Hall!

I have only heard good things about the Harbor Club. I think that someone on BHB was upset with Thatched Cottage the other day.

Re: Help me pick a Rec Hall!

I was a BM at Harbor Club last year, memorial day weekend, It was great except it went from a light drizzle to rain so the whole place with the veiw and all was ruined BUT the food was excellent, place was very nice. Hope this helps!

Re: Help me pick a Rec Hall!

I've only been to Thatched Cottage and Captain Bill's. Thatched Cottage was for my HS Senior Dinner, and that was 10 years ago (oh GOD).
I really liked Captain Bills, it has a beautiful view, the food was amazing, the drinks were strong and the service was great.

Re: Help me pick a Rec Hall!

I've been to a wedding at both captain bills and the harbor club. Both halls were amazing and i had a great time at the weddings. Personally, i like captain bill's alittle bit better. I like how the room has the high ceilings and a very open feel to it. The outside deck is a bit small for the cocktail hour depending on the number of people you have, but you can also have the cocktail hour in the room in their main building. Hope this helps

Re: Help me pick a Rec Hall!

I'm having my wedding at captain bills so obviously i'm somewhat partial:) I am having my cocktail hour in the main restaurant because the outside area was too small, and also because my wedding is in november:) You definitely need a minimum of about 185-190 people for them to secure the inside rooms for the cocktail hour - and this overlooks the water aslo. I've eaten at the restaurant for years(i'm from bay shore) and the food has always been great. The only wierd thing is that your dj or band has to be caddy-cornered on the dance floor. This works out fine, but it's the only thing I can think to mention. Oh, also driving up to the front doors is not as 'fantasy-like' or 'majestic' as most wedding places, but it has that casual elegance that I liked:) Good luck!!! I'm sure there's no wrong choice here.

Re: Help me pick a Rec Hall!

My bro got married at the Harbor Club and it was very nice. We had a blast considering it was a day wedding.

I have heard only BAD things about Thatched Cottage.

Never been to Captain Bill's for a wedding (although I will b/c Lauren16 is my soon to be cousin in law!).
Heard nothing but good things about Capt Bills, and have been there for Eparties and dinner, and food is awesome.

GOOD LUCK!
