Help me pick places to entertain my international guests!

I have about 10 relatives coming to my wedding who have never been in America before.

Where should I take them??? We could also take a weekend trip. Suggestions?

You should do the double-decker bus tour in NYC. My family from Italy really enjoyed it.

of course, the obvious-- Tour sights of NYC --Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building....if they want to see those kind of things (& wait in line)

As for a weekend trip-- it depends on their personalities & where they are visiting from....

Hamptons or Montauk
Atlantic City/Jersey Shore
Washington DC

stay overnight in nyc, and go up the empire state building, take the riverboat ride from pier 17 around the statue of liberty, and maybe some other place like chinatown or little italy for some good food... can also take them to the cloisters in way uptown manhattan. It has a gorgeous garden, view of the river, and wonderful medieval items....

Def go to NYC.

Empire State Building
Statue of Liberty
Central Park
Etc..

Unless they all speak English, don't bring them to shows, movies, lectures, etc..... They will be bored to death.

They will want to see the major landmarks/monuments.

That's what we did.

i was going to suggest the double deck bus as well or a circle line cruise around the 5 boroughs. My international relatives for some reason always liked going to woodbury commons for some good old outlet shopping!

Of course as everyone else suggested, take them into NYC. The double-decker bus tour is always a hit as well as the circle line cruise.

Depending on their personalities, you can take them down to AC. My relatives always like going there--especially if the weather is nice. There's also DC, which isn't so far...or even out East.

I want to ride the double decker bus!

I've never really been a tourist in NYC since I live here!

I always say that too! I think I will plan a day where FH and I can be tourists for the day.

Any places you can think of that are like 1-3 hours from NYC. Places in PA, NJ, CT, or RI?

I will definitely be taking them around Manhattan and Woodbury Commons.

I think atlantic city is nice. there is a boardwalk, shows, restaurants, and casinos for them to see. Philadelphia is also a cool little city with lots of touristy things to do and nice restaurants. and not too far from NYC.

if you like seafood, Baltimore is about 3.5 hours away and the crabs are totally worth the drive! there is a waterfront harbor, a huge aquarium and a water taxi which will take you to different spots along the water. If you go, visit O'bryckis restaurant. there's nothing like dumping a dozen crabs on a table of butcher paper and whacking them open with mallets!

I didn't even think about Trump Tower! You mean the one on Fifth Ave, right?

That just reminded me to add the UN and World Trump Tower over there as well.

I took FH's family on the Circle Line cruise around the City. We had a lot of fun and you really do get to see a bit of everything and it's comfortable for older people with less running around. We took the long one that went all the way around the City, so they got to see Yankee Stadium, Brooklyn Heights, the Bronx!, things I do not think we would of had time to see if we had to go to each one separately.

Oh, and we went to Century 21for shopping of course. Apparantly, Century 21's reputation reached across the Atlantic! It's in all the guidebooks. They loved it!

I didn't realize that Century 21 was so popular.

I hate going there. I feel like it's very difficult to find anything.

I went to a Sweet Sixteen on the Circle Line cruise and it was awesome!! I think its definitely the way to go if you've got some older folks with you who might get tired walking around all day.

I also take anyone who hasn't been to NYC to the Museum of Natural History. Everyone loooooves it. There are so many cool exhibits all the time, and you can go to the planetarium too.

If youre looking for a weekent trip, I would also suggest Mystic, CT. Its such a cute little town and has that huge aquarium. My parents used to take us there all the time for mini vacays.
