We have our church booked for 3:30 because there is another wedding before us. Our Cocktail hour starts at 5:30. I don't think I am going to have enough time inbetween. We are not having a fuul mass and we are only 20 minutes from the reception w/o traffic. Do you think I should look into changing the church.

Licia, Do you LOVE your church? because if you do, I wouldn't change it. I would consider ... not having a receiving line, which will get you & your guests out faster ... make a note in the program ... i've seen it done, maybe someone on the board can help with the wording for that.
If you're only having a ceremony, how long will it be ... 35 - 40 min? With 20 min. drive, you could certainly make it & take pix b/f. You may most of your cocktail hour, thoug. I don't think it's worth changing over, buuuut you have time, so could always check around. You have to prioritize!
good luck

I was thinking about not having a receiving line...I wasn't sure though. I didn't think much of it, but people started saying that I may not have time to take pics...and If I rush around that I will look stressed in the pictures...I know I have to really thing about it. As far as loving my church...I have received every sacrament there, graduated elementary school there...Its sentimental. I thing the ceremony will take like 30 mins...I won't have it dragged out

Re: Help me to figure this one out...
My church was 3pm (just ceremony and shorten rec'ing line just us and parents) and my cocktail hour was 6:30pm. It was about a 45 minutes drive. We had just about enough time for pictures in between. I took pictures with the BM's at my house and a couple with my immediate family. The rest we took at the hall. The only thing that stunk was my guests started showing up at the hall in between because of the longer time difference and kept interrupting the pictures (I started getting really po'd..hope my expression doesn't show in the pictures)..they delayed the time it took to finish the pictures. My photographer said you usually need about an hour. I would say it took a little more than that.
If you could bump your church to 3, I would. But if not talk to your photographer and see what he thinks.
