Since our wedding is during advent and hanukkah (totally on purpose), I was thinking of sending our STDs with this year's holiday cards. I was thinking a small card or magnet, either with a holiday photo of us, or some kind of holiday graphics, and the theme is that this holiday season, we're already thinking about how next holiday season we'll be getting married... you know? and also about it being christma and hanukkah...
Im not 100% happy with this, but this will give you an idea of what I'm going for.
Jennifer and Douglas are Getting Married! So this year as you light the candles or trim your evergreen tree remember that next year at this time you'll be celebrating with us as we start a new family Save the Date December 16, 2006 Long Island, NY
I think the poem is sloppy though. Any ideas?

This is just my opinion but if I were you I might wait until after the holidays to send out your STD's. If you send them with during the holidays they might get overlooked or forgotten. A lot of people are busy and stressed around that time (I know I am) and most people get a lot of card then too. Your STD's might get lost in the mix.
Again, this is just my opinion but I don't think the poem works. You're right, it's kind of sloppy- some lines have too many syllables and it throws off the rthyme. I just don't know how to fix it though.

Yeah I'm thinking about that with the holiday thing....people get dozens of cards..they may not even notice it! So maybe after the holidays...now I need a new theme for it though..lol

Not nearly as many people send out new years cards.. what if you send out cards saying have a happy new year ( maybe even mail them the day after new years..) And do a starting a new year and life together theme...

I have gotten more than one STD included with or as a holiday card. The bride and groom had no issues with people missing them.
STD's give you a great opportunity to do something really fun and creative. I have seen them done as a ticket, modeled after a concert the couple went to - or favorite sports team. A lawyer bride did one that was modeled after a subpoena. Postcards, bookmarks, photo booth photos.
