I think they are really stupid and pointless, but I know we have to do them. My thinking is that I'm paying a ton of money for you to come to my wedding anyway so why should I have to give you a gift for coming?!??!
I don't want to do something that people will just eat and never think of again, and I don't want something dumb that ppl will just never use and end up throwing away. I wanted to donate to the American Cancer Society (since FH's mom and my stepdad both passed away from cancer) and do a little card and attach it to some candy or something, but FH doesn't like this!
He wants to do like personalized champagne glasses to use when we do the toast and then have those be the favors, but I feel like this is too frat/sorority formal favorish. We were both in a frat/sorority and got many of these for our formals and so did our friends and I don't want them associating that with our wedding! What do you think?? Do you have any ideas for cute favors?

I don't have any ideas, but I agree with you about the whole favor situation. I don't even want to give any, but I do want to do a donation and FH doesn't. I think we should both work on our FHs a little more and convince them to do the donation

I would try to do something instead of cand with the donation..... May be paper that plants and is wild flowers or something that goes on living like that. Our favor is a cookbook that we are going to put recipies in along with our families and friends.

I kind of like the idea of the favor.
I see it as a 'token' ... or just something to remember the day by.
you could get a list of your immediate families wedding songs, make a CD and POOF! favor!

I am doing a favor as well since I had breast cancer this past summer I am donating to a cancer support group. FH and I are going to also give a book mark with our monogram on it. and a little saying and on the back we are putting our donation information.

I agree I am donating to Brain Cancer Foundation but I also wanted to do FDNY burn Center & FH was not into it.......i still dont get it!

Try looking up practical favors. FH is a chef, so he is putting together the dry ingredients of his famous cookies and we are giving out heart cookie cutters with the recipe. Then our guests can use the cookie cutters over and over again.

The donation thing is a good idea. The glasses that you pour alcohol at the wedding into and than take home isn't. If people put drinks in them do you really expect them to take them home without like washing them it may get sticky. But I totally get what he's saying and its cute but than if people donate take it than you are stuck with X amount. Can you give a little something to go with the donation?

We are also making a donation. My cousin did them at her wedding and I just thought it was the most wonderful idea. It went over really well with all the guests.
After a beautiful day and such a grand celebration, its a nice gesture to give back in honor of those that could not be there. We are donating to the American Cancer Society.
I recommend you keep working on him! Its good karma.

were not doing favors bcuz I never keep them and I dont want to waste money.
The only two favors I have ever used was a cd made by the DJ (it had abt 12 songs that were played during the reception) & an Icecream scoop
