HELP!! .. I'M SO CONFUSED ABOUT CHOOSING MY WEDDING DATE. I RECENTLY GOT ENGAGED BUT I AM ALREADY PLANNING BECAUSE I AM SO EXCITED, HOWEVER I HAVE 3 TOTALLY DIFFERENT DATES IN MIND. THE FIRST DATE IS SEPTEMBER OF 2008 ... THE SECOND IS FEB 14, 2009 (VALENTINE'S DAY) AND THE THIRD IS THE DAY HE PROPOSED TO ME (IT FALLS ON A SATURDAY IN 2009) WHICH IS MAY 9TH , 2009. IS MAY 9TH 2009 TOO FAR AWAY? AND IF WE HAVE IT IN FEB.2009,DOES THAT MEAN I WONT HAVE ANY OUTDOOR PICTURES, AND/OR BAD WEATHER?? HOWEVER MY FIANCE'S FAMILY GOES AWAY TO EUROPE EVERY YEAR FROM THE END OF MAY UNTILL THE END OF OCTOBER, SO MAYBE THEY WILL FEEL LIKE SINCE WE KNOW THAT, I SHOULDN'T HAVE THE WEDDING IN SEPTEMBER! I NEED ANYONES ADVICE, MY MIND CHANGES 3 TIMES A DAY!!!

I know it sounds forward, but consider your monthly friend when planning the date, you don't want it for the week of or after your wedding....

my first choice would be sept 2008. mayeb you could talk to his family and see if this would work for them before you book. my 2nd choice would be may 2009 and no, i dont think this is too far away. you should also consider that maybe the RH you want doesn't have one of these dates available. maybe narrowing down the RH;s would help with the decision???

I think you should make your FILs aware that you are thinking about a September wedding and see what they say. If it is going to cause drama with them, then it's not worth it. TRUST ME YOU'LL HAVE BIGGER ISSUES! Feb can be nice and you still can have pictures outside if the day is nice. Even if it is cold, you will get the chance to take pictures outside if you want. And if it snows it can look really pretty. May is also a beautiful time of year. There are pros and cons of each date. You'll find the right date...

I agree. Different times of year will give you different rh prices. Also, you need to make sure that you will be able to pay for all vendors before your wedding.

May or September. February is too cold to take outdoor pics. There is no scenery, nothing is in bloom.
Ultimately the choice is yours. I choose October because it is cool, the weather is still decent. Can't do sping - allergies Summer is too hot for me.

Well, your advantage to FEb. is the prices are cheaper, although if its valentines day, that might not hold true.
I personally love spring, when everything is first blooming and really green. I would choose May 9th. (thats also my DHs b-day). If you don't want to wait that long though, then September is beautiful for weddings too.

Firstly I think you have to think of what it is you want. If you want a summery or springy wedding then you are going to run into problems with FILs. IMO FILs go on a long vacation when the weather is nice here and it's nice of you to want to accomodate this but you can only do so much. Trust me you wil drive yourself crazy trying to make everyone happy. Giving 1 1/2 to 2 years notice is plenty to give them time to plan and make arrangements.

And you have several more months to save if you get married in May 2009 as opposed to September 2008.

IT actually should be easy to narrow down.
First-will you be able to pay for a wedding by sept of 08? also the availability at the hall youre interested in for that date...If your budget permits it then go for it if not then cross that off the list right away.
Second-theres a big difference between a wedding in february and one in May, think about whether you want a winter wedding or a spring wedding. Then theres also budget, february is cheaper so if you can find it at a better price and are more comfortable with the off-peak prices go for that...But if you prefer spring and its in your budget then i would just go for that
