I asked this question a while back, but now we are getting closer to the date, so I'll ask again...
My stepdaughter will be 16 Jan 1st - we want to have a sweet 16 for her that is not too expensive. She lives in Plainview and some of her friends had some big sweet 16s, and unfortunately we can't afford anythign major...
What venues are affordable? I am looking for a hall somewhere near Plainview or Huntington, where we live, where food and everything is already included - we are thinking 80 people tops....
someone suggested HTH on LIF, but noooooo.... Anything but that!!!

I had mine at smithtown landing. I know that isn't close though. I went to a ton of them out there, unfortunately that was way too long ago to remember!

I don't know if this is an option- but I didn't have a big sweet sixteen- what I did instead was invite 10 close friends to a 'murder mystery' dinner. This was 12 years ago, so I don't know if these things exist any more, but it was such a blast, everyone had so much fun!

I did that too - but we want to give her a party - thats what all her friends are doing now - I grew up in the city, so that was the thing to do.... just going out to a nice dinner with some friends

Another option might be a knights of columbus hall. You can rent it out...unfortunately, the food wouldn't be included. You could probably get some trays of ziti or something from an italian restaurant and a cake from BJ's and keep the cost down. She could also decorate any way she wants.

What about renting the hall connected to the Sweet Hollow Church in Melville (I think it's on Old Country Rd)...close to Huntington/Plainview...It's actually where we had my sweet 16 party many moons ago! Just an idea....

- VWF is always good. They have a hall in Hicksville. Maybe they have one close to you.
- Aquarium in Riverhead does sweet 16.

How much are you looking to spend per person?
Since you are having it in January, I would look at some reception halls as most are usually not busy that time of year and would welcome any business and may give you a great deal. It won't hurt to price some out.
Hope that helps.

I don't know anything about these places, but what about Antun's or the Sterling? How about the Blue Honu?

I would call around, you never know until you research it. What about having it catered, Mama Sabaros does a great job with the food. You could have a really nice house party, Hire a DJ get a crazy about of balloons, etc. Maybe even think of something unique that the other kids haven't done yet.

Did you check out the Main Event? I had DH's 40th there. The food was great and the cost was very reasonable.
The Main Event is in Plainview

I had mine at Smithtown landing before they redid it. Everything was great-the food, service, non-alcoholoc drinks. No complaints here!
