One of my favorite people in the world passed away from Non-Hodgkin's - the more serious of the two lymphomas. Your friend should have a good chance (non-Hodgkin's has a lower survival rate) and will be in my thoughts and prayers. A great book you can get for him is 'Anatomy of an Illness' by Norman Cousins. It's a wonderful read and deals with this in particular - I'm sure it will help him.

i'm so sorry to hear that! but keep up hope... lymphoma is one of the easier cancers to beat.
my dad had non-hodgkins lymphoma, and is just about to celebrate his 5th year of remission!! and he was in i think stage 3 when they found it- he had a mass on the lymphnodes in his chest that was as big as his fist! when he was gong through treatment, he had one doctor tell him, ' we TREAT lung cancer, but we can CURE lymphoma'.. meaning that lymphoma has a very small chance of comnig back once you get rid of it... to see my dad now, you would never know what he went through 5 years ago.
just letting you know ( and your friend) know that there is a ton of hope out there....
