Help my BIL...where can he have his laptop fixed???
My BIL is in a small rock band and his takes his laptop on tour with him all the time. Well he just came home for the weekend and it won't turn on. My DH looked at (he's a computer programmer and has built computers) and thinks it is an electrical problem (wires or something, I dunno). Where on LI can my BIL bring it to have it fixed? Any recommendations? It's a Dell and it's 1 year old (2 weeks past the warranty period, of course!). THANKS!

Call Dell and ask them. You don't wan't any old computer shop to fool around with a laptop. Dell will probably want you to send it back to them directly.
And if you don't want to send it back to Dell... don't be surprised if you bring it down to a shop to have it repaired... that they will ship it out themselves.

yeah you are probably right about that. BIL is a starving artist and was looking to not pay the prices that dell would probably charge. thanks for your advice, i'll share it with him. anyone else have any experiences to share?

My Sony died 6 days after warranty expired and I called them and they fixed it under warranty. So have him call Dell and complain like a woman! As for fix it places, only go to an authorized Dell fixer or you will get screwed big time.
