Anyone else having this problem? I have 5 women in my bridal party. Two are very heavyset and absolutely need some kind of arm cover. There are hardly any options with sleeves for BM dresses. I've seen long sleeves which isn't good either. I don't see how shawls will do the trick since it's a pain to hold it on all night long.
Any suggestions?

Re: Help! My BM's need sleeves!
maybe you can find a dress that can have a sleeve added on. I know it would be simple to add a light chiffon sleeve to most dresses and it would only require a little bit of extra fabric. Or maybe have them get bolero jackets that would match. i agree that a shawl would not work, they will not be comfortable with that, it does not cover you up and you cannot hold it all night. good luck!

Re: Help! My BM's need sleeves!
I actually purchased a dress for my RD from David's Bridal and it's a BM dress and David's Bridal has these great little jackets that work seamlessly with the dresses themselves and would work perfectly if you got them to match a solid-color dress in the same fabric (you can go there and check them out too). I ended up buying mine later on since I bought the dress to wear strapless, and wore it to another friend's wedding at the end of the summer.

Yes, I did see those little jackets. I also see that they have chiffon shrugs which personally, I like a little better only that I'm not sure I want the dresses to be chiffon.
I can't believe this isn't more of a problem for lots of others? My cousin who is in my wedding has been very heavy since she was real young. Why is everything strapless or with hardly any sleeves? I don't get it?

I know a shrug is a pain but I've seen people take a shawl and wrap it around the arms like a jacket and then tie it underneath the back part so you don't see the knot. Okay so that probably makes no sense and I need to get back to my homework so I'm not going to look for a picture.
But when I was at David's Bridal they showed me how to wear a shawl like a jacket without having to hold it all night - and it really looked VERY cute. Maybe ask a bridal salon about this.

They did show me a top, part of BM separates, where they were doing all sorts of things with the top-halter, cap sleeves. It was interesting and nice looking. I'm not thrilled about David's Bridals but looks like they may be my choice considering my dilemma. I hope they will be OK for BM dresses.

What a good idea to try David's Bridal for RD dress. I might try that.

Almost every store I went to said a jacket of some kind could be made so I would look into that....the ones from David's Bridal looked super cute too!!

My sister had the same issue and she had the store make her a bolero jacket.

Re: Help! My BM's need sleeves!
I've been to many weddings with larger BMs and they look FABULOUS in strapless lots of the time.
It's a little tough to see here since they're dancing, but my cousin who is 4'10' and was about 180lbs at the time of the wedding she was in a few years ago was wearing a nearly-strapless dress and looks great (IMO):
Here she is in a halter at my wedding:
I think she looks great!
Maybe you could take your girls out and give some styles a try before you write off sleeveless completely?
(Please don't quote -- I may unlink these photos so my cousin doesn't see I'm using her as an example...)
