My shower is not a secret and it is this Saturday!, My sister is confused over this hat thing. I told her you get a hat and as I open up the presents you put the ribbon and bow on the hat and then after I will wear it!..LOL
My question is..what kind of hat???

Re: HELP MY SISTER!!
Usually you just use a paper plate or something to create the hat

Re: HELP MY SISTER!!
Yep... paper plates! I've actually never seen the 'hat' created on an actual hat! Interesting. I just went to a shower yesterday and the girls used paper plates...

Re: HELP MY SISTER!!
if you wanted a 'real' hat...she could get one of those straw hats (cheap one from like party city or a real one hahaha) and attach them onto there.
you can use tape or a stapler to attach the bows...and ive seen people just use ribbon from the gifts (poked through the left and right side of the plate)...tied...and then u tie that under your neck to keep the 'hat' in place.

Re: HELP MY SISTER!!
Jennifer, I forgot a paper plate, and a hat, so we turned a basket upside down, and I threaded the ribbons in through the basket openings. You could take a hole punch/scissors, the day of the Shower, and put ribbon through the holes, and knot them, so they stay. Mary MOB

Re: HELP MY SISTER!!
I used a straw hat for mine, but my BM's said it was hard for the bows to stick on...and they recommend a paper plate

Re: HELP MY SISTER!!
at my second shower (at a restaurant) they forgot to bring something, so they used a take-out container (like the flat square styrofoam ones hahaha)....
Sometimes you just have to make do

Re: HELP MY SISTER!!
These are great! I think she will go with the paper plate! She can poke holes and pull a ribbon through there so I can keep it tied!!!!

Re: HELP MY SISTER!!
I've always seen a paper plate. For one shower I went to, they got so many presents, they used 2 more plates and made a bra too!

Re: HELP MY SISTER!!
We used a paper plate as the base. That's what I've always seen-then you attach the ribbons and bows and stuff. Good luck!

Re: HELP MY SISTER!!
if your going to go the paper plate route... use a stapler it holds the bows on better then tape!

Re: HELP MY SISTER!!
Do not do a straw hat... My sisters brilliant bridesmaid last year bought one and I couln't get a thing to stick to it. Try getting a plastic hat from party city, cowboy hat etc. Noone will tell once it's all cover. My sister did a hat last year so this year they are going to make a bouquet for me.
