HELP- NEED ADVICE

I just got off the phone with one of my bridesmaids. She TOTALLY caught me OFF GUARD and asked me if I was inviting her parents to the wedding (I am) but then she asked me if she could bring her baby who is going to be about 7-8 months old at the time and I didn't know what to say so like an idiot I said yes. Now I'm having a panic attack b/c I know what issues this is going to cause for everyone else. I don't know what to do now- I can't go back on my word. Need advice!!! Please help!

I think you can just call and explain that you were caught off guard and are having an adults only reception.

Re: HELP- NEED ADVICE

She knows that my god-daughter (who'll be 1 then) is going to be there because EVERYONE that my neice knows is going to be there ... but she's my god-daughter. I've never even actually seen my friend's son b/c they live out of state. I just know this is going to cause issues especially w/ my FH's side b/c they don't think kids should be at the wedding.

Today I did a whole therapy group on being assertive. One of the points was that we have the right to change our mind!!!

Re: HELP- NEED ADVICE

I know- it's just that she's one of my best friends and I know that has to be a hard situation to be in. It's not even me- it's that I know we're going to get lip about it from other family members and it's just not right!!! I just had a long cry and then a talk w/ my mom and then my FH and we decided to just give it a few days and not worry about it tonight- so I'm going to DO MY BEST to try to follow that!!!

I'm feeling a little better this morning- despite the fact that I came into WORK so NO SNOW DAY FOR ME

Hopefully this will all work out.....

Re: HELP- NEED ADVICE

sorry, this is such a difficult subject. We are having a ton of kids but they are all in the party in some way or out of state family members. my brother asked me if he could bring his girlfriends 10 year old daughter and I told him we just didnt have room. He kept saying, 'ok well let me know,' and It was hard to have to tell him that I just didnt have room for her. (I never even met his girlfriend or the child). So, I guess my point to this whole long story is I can relate to how difficult these things can be,(God I'm so long winded)! Good Luck!

Re: HELP- NEED ADVICE

thanks. as I said I'm more worried about everyone else's opinions (FH's family especially). She's one of my best friends and I don't want things to be difficult for her...

Re: HELP- NEED ADVICE

I wouldnt stress.....explain to your friend that if she were to bring her baby then SHE would miss out on a lot of fun. It would probably be in HER best interest to get a sitter that way she doesnt have to spend the whole night worrying about her baby and can enjoy herself..Make it liek SHE changed her mind and you will be in the clear.

My FH 5 neices adn nephews are in our bridal party...they all have sitters already because his sister (who are also in the party)want to enjoy themselves....and now they will!

Re: HELP- NEED ADVICE

don't univite the baby, but ask her casually what she is goign to do about feeding the baby, and leting him sleep,e tc. Maybe that will get her to re-think.

MY friend had her nephew at her wedding, but her borther's inlaws were invited to the wedding withthe understandign they'd be the one's to leave early and take the baby & his flower girl sister home.

Maybe the reason your frend asked if her parents were invited, was so they could help take care of the baby.

Re: HELP- NEED ADVICE

If your friend is out of state and her parents are going to be there maybe you could make an exception for this child because where/who would they leave the baby with?

Re: HELP- NEED ADVICE

I know- that's what going to happen. I guess it's just the point that I think it's really rude to put me in that situation. Besides, I'm not close w/ her parents at all so shouldn't they offer to stay home and watch the baby? If they come I'm paying for them (which I don't mind) but if they leave early and don't even eat I'll feel like it's a waste of $$$...
