Help! Need suggestions for best reception halls in LI!

Hi All -

I recently got engaged and started looking into reception halls (around the LI area). Right now, the two venues that I am going to see in person are Bourne Mansion and Harbour Club at Prime...but the process of finding the perfect place seems overwhelming to me because I have no idea where to begin does anyone have any suggestions for great reception halls in the long island/queens area?

Thanks in advance! I appreciate any feedback I can get!!!

Agreed! Fox Hollow!

We are getting married at the Somerley at Fox Hollow :)

Bourne Mansion is beautiful, but I know they have a site fee

Another fox hollow vote! Bourne mansion and harbor club are beautiful but both were out of our budget. I'll send you my list of quotes :)

I would start by thinking about what kind of wedding you want/likes/dislikes in your venue. For example, my fiance and I wanted to find somewhere that didn't have a catering hall feel to it and was within our tight budget. Some of the spots we looked at based on reviews here/from friends and family:
The Woodlands in Woodbury
The Riveria in Massapequa
Three Village Inn, Stony Brook
Smithtown Landing, Smithtown
Our reception venue is The Mansion at West Sayville Country Club.
I will say, one of the best cocktail hours I've ever been to for a wedding was at the Inn at New Hyde Park. They have a great area/selection of food. Congrats and good luck! =)

I may be biased but definitely Fox Hollow!!! The Scotto brother's were amazing my maitre'd and bridal attendant were amazing the whole entire night of my wedding...The chef even came out and introduced himself to both my parent's and my husband's parent's. They have 7 entrees to choose from, the cocktail hour was amazing, the service impeccable!!! :) I got married at the Somerley in Fox Hollow, and it was like having my wedding at a catering hall that does only one wedding at a time, because I didn't have to share anything with any of the other rooms, my wing was entirely private, my guests entered and exited at a totally different location from the rest of the catering hall. Lastly, what sealed the deal for me and my husband was the hotel right next door, in which my guests are still raving about, in fact they are still raving about the entire wedding experience at the Fox Hollow :)

I think we're all partial to our own venues :D When I started, I had to narrow down all the venues that could accommodate our guest list (250+), and then I went based off of that because it narrowed it down quite a bit.

Other things to think about: do you want a venue that hosts more than 1 wedding at a time? My venue (North Ritz Club) only has 1 wedding at a time, so it allows you to start at any time, pretty much.

Do you want nice grounds to take pictures? I've heard the Swan Club has beautiful grounds to take pictures at but I think to enjoy it best, you need to have an afternoon wedding.

And location...does it matter to you? If you're getting married in a church or synagogue, do you care how far it is?

And then I also went back and searched through a lot of reviews, which I found very helpful.

Hope this helps! Congratulations & good luck!

Also, I forgot to add that I looked into Bourne Mansion too, in the beginning of my search. They have a $5000 site fee just to step foot on the property. Knowing that weddings cost an arm and a leg, I specifically didn't consider any venues that charged site fees.

How much are you looking to spend per person or total?

Congratulations!!! Don't let all the halls get to you. It's actually a lot of fun to plan. I miss it :( Of course I'm going to be bias and start with The Venetian Yacht Club!!! I just had my wedding there two weeks ago. If you're looking for something on the water. Other places: Westbury Manor is really great too. Watermill, Jericho Terrace, Leonards...for LI. For Queens - Terrace on the Park. And of course depending on your budget...I hear Oheka Castle is amazing but really costly :/ Under the vendor section on this site you can filter the options which generates the halls for you. You can start with that, if you feel overwhelmed. Hope this helps. Good luck and happy planning.

Wow, Fox Hollow seems to be a winner! :) Thank you so much, ladies! I appreciate all of the feedback and I will look into all of these suggestions. How about the Inn at New Hyde Park? Has anyone had experiences with that venue? The Bourne Mansion is pretty pricey..I was pretty surprised at the site fee when I called them the other day and they told me about it. I am looking to spend about $150 per person. Also, any vineyard suggestions? I really like a 'romantic' feel to the venue.

I went to a wedding at Martha Clara Vinyard - it was beauitful! However, alot of the vinyards (with the exception of one or two) you have to bring everything in yourself so it can be alot of work

Westbury Manor was under $100 for a Sunday Afternoon. You have to see it to know how beautiful it is. The pictures on the website don't do justice.

Harbour Club at Prime. Loooooved the wedding I attended there. Or Lombardi's on the Sound. Had a party there and food was amazing and view is beautiful. I'm a fan of venues on the water.

We are getting married at Larkfield Manor in October. It's worth taking a look. The renovations are beautiful and the food is delicious. Their cocktail hour is amazing. Everyone who has been to a wedding there raves about how great the food was and how they have the best cocktail hour of all the other venues they've been to. Which is what made us take a look at it. I can FM you our Friday October 2015 quote.
