Alfonse ixnayed the bowling party. Bad topic. We had a HUGE fight about it.
So I didn't want anything fancy schmancy - so I'm looking for like a waterfront restaurant around 35 pp....
The 200 people is because - and I don't give a damn if anyone gives me flack about it - I have lots of people that I need to invite to the wedding (b/c I can't just invite the one cousin I'm close to, etc), it's extended family and such......
I haven't seen them in 10 yrs or more. So I am inviting the whole wedding to the engagement party so Alfonse and I don't feel awkward at the wedding. I don't want to spend the time catching up when we greet them. But I don't want them to think we're not grateful for them coming...
There will be no toasts, no spotlight dances, no nothing like a wedding - more like a fancy kegger.
There will be dancing and shots and car bombs...

What is that captain bills place I hear about? is that in Suffolk?
I know thats on the water and always gets good reviews....

I would see about the Riveria or Bridgeview. They might be able to work with you on price if you dont do an open bar and just serve dinner. You are going to have a hard time finding a place that will be that inexpensive for 200 ppl. Maybe a place on the Nautical Mile in Freeport but I cant think of a place that can hold that capacity or would be that cheap. We had our eparty at a small place on the water. Its kind of a hole in the wall but my parents have been going there for years and the food is good and they had dinner beer wine and soda included for only 18 on a Sunday afternoon but I dont think it could even hold 100 ppl....

jenn, sorry, i cant think of any places that have not already been mentioned, but i just wanted u to know i think its really nice to invite all of the wedding guests to the engagement party - and i think its smart if u can do it!
that way, no one feels like they werent good enough to be invited

captins is real nice and great food.. i think its real pricy... but REAL nice...
