Help needed for reception selection (With Poll)

Help needed for reception selection (With Poll)

I have my final 2 halls narrowed down to Fox Hollow and Harrison House.
I love them both.
I don't know which one to choose.
We are between one in December and one in November 2006. Uhh the stress.
I don't know much about the Harrison House
and I am weary about the food at Fox Hollow.
I refuse to look anywhere else.
I have looked at 9 halls.

Can anyone help my stress levels right now?

Re: Help needed for reception selection

I looked at 25 halls, so to me, 9 is nothing.

However, I never looked at Fox Hollow because they do more than one wedding at a time, and I wanted to be the only bride. As for Harrison, I couldn't meet the minimum, so I never looked at it.

Both places however are very different - do you want a mansion (Harrison), or the quaint look (Fox Hollow)??

Check the Bride's Review Board for feedback on both - it might help.

I think they are both nice - I saw them both if I recall correctly aren't the prices different?

IMO I really liked the isolated feeling of the Harrison House - one wedding at a time and the grounds are stunning.
Good luck!

I personally think Harrison House is much better.

I felt the lobby at Fox Hollow was small and guests would def bump into one another.

Both places are great, but each one is very different. I am personally a fan of the Harrison House, especially because they have one event at a time and the place itself is extremely beautiful.

Look at the pics on this page....
That's the Fox Hollow in late November.

And trust me, there's no worries about Scotto Brothers food!!! It was so yummy.

I looked at over a dozen halls too, but Harrison House was not one of them. The photo ops at Fox Hollow really made up my mind, especially because I'm having a winter wedding. And I HATE carpets, so that made a big difference to me too!

Good luck - I didn't like the hall search one bit!!!

I would choose Fox Hollow

Re: Help needed for reception selection

I'd always go with the place that has only one wedding at a time.

I actually booked Fox Hollow and ended up cancelling it because of that, and because I just felt like I was being treated more like a customer at a business than a person who wanted to get married. I am SO happy I cancelled it. I know it feels like it doesn't matter if there are other brides around on your day... but there's not even a guarantee it will be BRIDES. It could be rowdy Bar Mitzvah boys... somebody could have too much booze and puke all over the bathroom...
And it's not even that... at Fox Hollow they do 2 parties at once, and they're pretty much always booked solid. That's 4 parties in one Saturday. it could be 6 between Saturday and Sunday. 8 for Fri, Sat, and Sunday. With 8 parties in one weekend, and a full restaurant and bar, no matter how hard they try, it's pretty difficult to give you the kind of individualized attention and personal care that a place that has maybe 3 or 4 parties in a weekend could give you.

I know a lot of people chose Fox Hollow, and love it, and that's great! I'm sure their weddings will be beautiful... just for me, the more I thought about it, the more I realized that these things that seemed insignificant really did make a difference.

whew... that was long! sorry! best of luck with your choice. I know how stressful it can be.

I didn't vote b/c I can't choose. I'm biased with FH but have heard that Harrison house is nice too. Their prices were high to me tho....I see everyone's point about more than one wedding....and last wedding I attended was at FH and I wasn't blown away by the food. I figure that since they have a high volume their food is more likely to be good....eh, whatever- its a pain to decide on your hall...good luck!! Check bride reviews on here to see if anything changes your mind!

I visited Fox Hollow but not Harrison.. and can only comment on FH.

I persaonally did not like it... the halls are very narrow but the BRiar Room Ithink is very nice... more thatn one event and the possibility of a crowd from different parties.

oh no! I'm sorry! Don't stress. I know A LOT of people here have booked them, and are really really happy, and every review I read of them was incredibly positive. I just decided that it wasn't for me. Everybody is different, and I'm sure your wedding will be absolutely beautiful.

It's a wonderful place - I wouldn't have booked there, however briefly, if I didn't think so. I just decided that I wanted to go with something different.

........wwwweeeelllll..... it's very true that I cannot be unbiased since my wedding was there and was by far the best wedding I've ever been to And the truth was, my wedding choices was between the Fox Hollow and the Harrison House. Besides getting treated like a princess from the tasting all the way through, all of the amenities captured my attention. People being able to stay overnight (and not that expensive when you do the group rate), the pub upstairs, the beautiful, beautiful grounds and appearence, the gorgeous ballroom, people are STILL talking about the food (and FIL is a chef!), and just the overall feel of the entire place. Amazing! Simply amazing!

But the other girls are right, the two venues are totally different from one another and it really does depend what type of feeling you are looking for. If you have any questions about the HH, don't hesitate to FM!

Re: Help needed for reception selection (With Poll)

I thought Fox Hollow was a little hectic, nice but alot going on, when we went their even the woman at the front desk seemed flustered, on the otherhand I coan't say anything about Harrison House I was never their , but you shouldn't end your search because you have looked at 9 , don't settle til you find what is perfect for you, and that is what I think is most important. Hey look at me the little advice giver now
