Help! New person here.

Hi brides,

I am one of those brides who does all the reading and never the posting. But I feel like now is the time to ask for help.

Because I kept on doing searches over and over on here wanting to find out information about my venue, Reckson Plaza (the former EAB Plaza) and if anybody ever got married there and posted a review, I finally came up with something. Someone posted something that said bad things about it, and I am so sad! They noted how 'cold' but literally and figuratively the place was, and how it is better for an office fundraiser than for a wedding.

I know that every venue is going to have people that think something negatively about it, and I shouldn't worry about it. But I just want to know if any of you have ever been to a wedding at Reckson and any ideas that could make it particularly enchanting. This was so disheartening to hear!

My fiance and I are planning a modern nightclub theme, and the setting is ideal. We have professional lighting coming in to really set the scene, and we are doing tons of candles to make it as warm as possible.

What do you guys think?

my FH works there, I didn't know they did weddings?

eta: ok I re-thought about this, are you having your wedding in the main lobby, like where you first walk in? If you are I think with the right lighting and decor you can definitely achieve the club scene feel you're going for

the cocktail hour is in the atrium. the reception is upstairs in the lobby with the walls completely draped.

Hi! I used to work there for RexCorp actually (it's actually RexCorp Plaza now - Reckson is no longer in existence b/c the Rechler family can't get along with each other - can you tell I am bitter about my working experience for that company? LOL!)

Anyway, I didn't know you can have weddings there, either! That would be amazing! The only thing I can offer in terms of wedding-related is that my aunt and uncle went there for their pics in between the church and the reception hall. That was back in 96 tho, when it was still EAB Plaza, and it still had that rainforest look in the main lobby. The pics came out gorgeous though!!

Good luck with this! If you do have it there, I can't wait to see your pics!

I have seen pics in magazines from weddings in there and they look awesome! Im sure it will be fine! Talk to them about your concerns and see if they can ease ur mind.

Goodluck!!

Professional lighting can make any room look amazing.....and especially since you're starting with a blank slate, that means you can make it what you want and not have to compete with any heavy drapery or carpet or furniture. I have no idea what it looks like but I love the idea of a blank space. I'm sure it will look amazing.
