HELP - new to NYC area

Just got engaged this week and so excited! Because of a new job opportunity, we just moved to Northern NJ. We would like to have a small, intimate and romantic wedding in NYC (50 people max). However I know nothing about the area. Can anyone please help with recommendations on locations? It would be nice to have it somewhere with a NYC view since all attendees have never been to the Big Apple. But of course it needs to be affordable. DESPARATELY SEEKING ADVICE!

I don't think a typical wedding venue is going to work for 50 people. You may want to contact some smaller restaurants and see if you can rent them out.
I don't think mansions or townhouses are going to work since the site fee is usually pretty hefty and spreading it out over 50 people is going to be a very high cost pp.
you may want to post on the NYC section of TheKnot.com
