Help - not using inner envelope

I am not using an inner envelope with my invitations. How do I address a family with children?

Also, how do I address a widow in her 80s - Ms. or Mrs.?

The family with children goes to:

The Smith Family

we got so much crap for putting 'The Jones Family' bc some people thought that meant their 18 year old daughter's boyfriend (seriously) but I honestly have no clue how else you would address it besides 'Mr and Mrs Jones and name name name name'

i'd just do family and hope your inlaws arent as crazy as mine...

I agree on all accounts. Another version of the 'and family' thing could be:

Mr. and Mrs. John Smith
and Miss Jane and Master Joe Smith

This is only if the children are under 18 - if over 18, they should get their own invite.

HTH!

ETA: To take out some of the questions in who is invited, you can also write 'X number of seats have been reserved in your honour' on the RSVP card

For the family, each name goes on a seperate line (unless over 18 they get their own invite)

Mr. & Mrs. SMith
Biggerst Smith
Medium SMith
Little Smith
123 SMith street

The widow I would put Mrs. tho technically she is a Ms. most widows do not get rid of their Mrs.

I think the rule for married ladies is use husband's first name if he is alive and use her first name if widow:

So do Mrs. John Smith if he's with us and

Mrs. Jane Smith for the widow.

Children should be named on the envelope on lines under the parents as someone else just described.
