Re: Help on Halls
I haven't picked my hall for my wedding yet, but, if you go to Barnes&Nobles, purchase the magazine Wedding Sites and Services and another magazine called Locations. They have a majority of halls listed w/ a bunch of info about pricing, menu samples, etc. I know that Wedding Sites and Services also has a website: http://www.weddingsitesandservices.com/
Hope this helps.

Re: Help on Halls
We picked Flowerfield for many reasons. I went to many halls and I could not picture us getting married at any but Flowerfield. As soon as we walked in we all looked at each other and said OK this is it!!!! It is breathtaking!!! And they have a great reputation. Another big reason was they could hold a larger party (we are having 310) and they can seat everyone at the cocktail hour. Another reason was because there was one wedding at a time which was a huge deal to me. Plus everyone there is so nice. They would do anything for you and get anything you ask.

Re: Help on Halls
Fox Hollow was the first place I went to. I actually went alone because my FH had to work. Well...I fell in love with the hall the moment I walked inside. The menu choices were amazing and the people there were wonderful. I called FH as I was leaving and told him that I found the place we were going to get married. We looked a number of other places which did not compare and booked the hall a week later.

Re: Help on Halls
We chose Coral house because it was a cozy feeling for a smaller wedding..some of the rooms halls want to give to smaller weddings are not as elegant as the grand ballrooms. It also had the lake to take pictures and the windows and fire places were simple touches. Distance was important to us too. We live in Queens and we just didnt want to travel out too far.
Also food was important, we dont come from families that enjoy italian food so that crossed out alot of places lol. And food was a huge factor, our guests are eaters and they all wouldnt stop stuffing their faces so the food was good.
When u compare the grandor..its not a grand hall but rather the perfect setting for an intimate wedding that didnt want to seem flashy (we have no $$$

We picked the Meadow Club, because we were looking for a place that had a very romantic, victorian look to it and there small room fit my wants to a T. I didnt like the bigger room (it is beautiful but not what I like).

We chose Chateau La Mer in Lindenhurst. We had gone to a wedding there about 8 years ago and about 12-15 others since... nothing has compared in our minds (except for Villa Lombardis!). We checked it out when we got engaged and it was very reasonable. It's beautiful, right on the water, with floor to ceiling windows, the help has been wonderful so far and the food is unbelievable. Two brides got married there about a month ago- one of them wrote a review on the Brides Review board.
Good luck with your decision!!!

Re: Help on Halls
DH and I picked our hall for many reasons. First, it was very reasonably priced, second, the food was AMAZING!!, third, it was only one wedding at a time, we owned the whole place for the day, fourth, it was not a place that anybody in our family had ever been to, fifth, the people were extremely wonderful to work with, sixth, we loved the decor, the ballroom the cocktail room, the bridal suite and the bathrooms. seventh, when we walked in, it just felt so right and we could both envision dancing on that dance floor on our wedding day!! Since we got married in February, the outside grounds did not matter to me and our reception hall doesn't have any grounds, so it was perfecto for us!!! We truly had the most amazing wedding of our lives. Every detail at our hall was perfect!!! Stuart Thomas Manor just suited us to a tee!!!

Re: Help on Halls
Glen Island Harbour Club for a couple of reasons--1) I haven't heard a single bad thing about them from people who've gone to weddings there or had their wedding there; 2) We didn't want a huge wedding but we did want it on a Saturday night. GIHC only has a Sat night minimum of 125. 3) It's RIGHT on the water, located in a private park, which creates the kind of atmosphere I wanted. 4) the food is fantastic!
