Help on Reception halls

Help on Reception halls

Did anyone have any luck with negotiating price per person down at the halls they chose or did they just offer you additional things and keep the price the same? I am down to two places one I love and the other I like very much, but the one I love the price is significantly higher. I would have to cut back on a lot of other things to stay with in budget, which makes me nervous. The guest list grew from my expected 150-175 max to 175-210ish which adds up quick!... I am going to both venues Saturday to make a decision and I am nervous about trying to negotiate down. Any advice or does this just not happen?

Thanks in advance ladies, I am really stressing!

Typically guaranteeing a higher minimum will reduce the price per head.

And there is nothing wrong with negotiating, even if you have to tell a white lie like that another RH is offering you a lower price.

You have a better chance to negotiate if you are getting married off-peak (Which August isn't), Friday and Sunday, or in the daytime.

It never hurts to ask! Saying things like 'I love this venue but it's just not within my price range, is there any way we can work something out'.

Ita with above. If you give them the notion that someone else has a better price and maybe offering more they will try to work with you.

Just tell them i am ready to book, but the other hall is offering the following... and give them what you want for what price you like..

I hope you get the hall you want!!!!

Good luck!!!!!

I agree with what the others have said. Which 2 RH's are you considering?

What 2 places and how much of a price difference is it?

I am considering willow creek and the hamlet. The price difference is about $50 per person

This! We guaranteed a higher min for a lower price per head. Don’t be afraid to negotiate. RHs want your business and will what they can to make you happy.

THIS! We started with neg. with the higher minimum and then when they said they couldn't go lower then we asked what they would throw in then.

They are not the same place? I went to a wedding at the Hamlet in Mt. Sinai, is it now called Willow Creek?

It was a great wedding and the food was great.

After planning a wedding for almost a year, in my opinion:
$50 pp more is NOT WORTH IT unless someone else is paying for this wedding for you. Add tax and gratuity and that jumps it up to $75 pp more! Unless you are having only like 70 people at your wedding. Go with the cheaper place as long as you like the hall.

Wow, $50 a head difference is significant. You can definitely try to play them against each other, but I can't imagine you will be able to lower the more expensive one by that much. I would recommend that you look at your budget, be realistic, and set a price you can afford. Then you just have to stick to it! My FH and I loved a few places, but there was only one of them that was still within our budget on a Saturday night. If we had been willing to do another day or have a daytime reception we could have done any of them, but we had already decided that that wasn't negotiable for us. Have you considered this?
