Help pick hotels in Vegas please!

Original post by MrsQ-in2007

FH and I are both having our bachelor/ette parties in Vegas on the same weekend in September. The guys will stay in one hotel, the ladies in another. Guys will do their own partying separate from the ladies, but we'll all meet up one night.

I'm hoping some of you have some insight into these hotels in Vegas - any info on the rooms or the pool? Any other moderately priced hotel suggestions?

*Need to pick two hotels*:

Mandalay Bay
Luxor
New York New York
MGM
The Signature (all suites, new, at MGM)
Planet Hollywood (formerly Aladdin)
Caesars
Mirage
TI (Treasure Island)

I've been to Vegas about 4 times and love it, but we're trying to stay at hotels that are reasonable in cost - we've never stayed at any of these, so I'm having trouble choosing. We've been inside all of these hotels, just never stayed there or used the pool...

Hard Rock is out only because we want to be on the strip (I know it's really close)... We're also leaving early on Sunday to get back to NY in the evening.

THanks for all your help everyone! Ok so the top picks seem to be:

Mandalay Bay - great pool (are the rooms nice? Not TheHOTEL, the regular Mandalay Bay)

Caesars - does this have a nice pool and rooms??

MGM - lazy river and nice pool

Signature at MGM - suites style, uses MGM's pool

Mirage - does this have a nice big pool?

my friend stayed at caesars and i saw her video from vegas...her room was real nice, she had a jacuzzi in there and an amazing view of the fountain, she was right in front of it.

I stayed at MGM and the pool/lazy river was perfect during the day, but the rooms were just okay, nothing exciting. Also, since it's so far towards the bottom of the strip we didn't venture to some of the other fun places as much as we would have if we were more central. For that reason, I would probably pick Caesar's for location.

I stayed at Treasure Island before and had a blast there

DO NOT PICK NEW YORK NEW YORK! my moh's boyfriend stayed there once. he said till like 1 or 2 am the rollercoaster is so loud, you can hear it in the rooms. and if you plan on drinking, it's def no fun waking up at 7 am to that. he said it's a nice place but they need to work on sound proofing the rooms, who wants to listen to a rollercoaster going all night long?

I would go for treasure island. mgm is nice but I wouldn't pick that with a group of people, it's sucha big hotel. I kept losing my cousin since it's so big, and we'd always get lost going back to our room. if you don't care staying off the strip you should check out the hard rock hotel and the palms! both great party hotels.

See and I was going to say I liked NY, NY. I don't remember it being that noisy, and I was right outside the rollercoaster. You really aren't in the room that much to really be bothered by it. The pool there isn't really that great, but the room was very nice and the bars are pretty good too. It's a good deal for the money they charge you.

That's the only hotel i've stayed at in vegas. I know that Mandalay Bay is supposed to be very nice, especially the pool and for young people. but like it was said before, both of these hotels are at the end of the strip, if you're worried about that. Good luck choosing!!

I always used to worry about staying in the middle of the strip, but then ended up taking cabs everywhere anyway. Even in the center of the strip, a lot of the hottest night clubs still aren't walking distance. If you like a hotel off the strip I'd go for it.

My vote for the girls is for Mandalay Bay. I just stayed there in April, and FH and I kept commenting on how much we'd love to go back with friends. The cabanas are around $200 a day and the pool area is just amazing. We stayed in the regular hotel. The rooms were really nice - not Venetian sized, but they were clean, had a flat screen tv and a nice sized bathroom. They didn't blow me away, but they were nice.

For the guys - Hard Rock, Treasure Island, Rio (I know it's way off the strip, but I hear the prices and room sizes are great, and they have a decent nightclub there), and I've heard the Hooters hotel has great suites at great prices.

Good luck!

I stayed at Mandalay Bay. Definitly a girls hotel. Loby smells like coconut and the pool is great. Price is OK. Beautiful rooms and the bathrooms have big tubs perfect for bubble baths

Mandalay Bay all the way!! The rooms are beautifully appointed and the bathrooms are huge! Double sinks in regular rooms! Love the spa there- it is amazing!! The pool is awesome- huge and has it's own wave maker and sand so it is like a beach! And only people staying at MB are allowed to use the pool which I liked. The bars and restaurants are fabulous- very lively and fun. And the monorail is right across the street! Definitely THE pick for the girls!! Go get pampered at the spa, have coladas by the pool and have some yummy dinners! You ladies will have a blast!!

MGM is great for the guys since there are a lot of restaurants and bars too. Personally, I didn't like the huge size of it! It takes like 20 minutes to walk to your room!! Not my idea of fun!!

The Mirage is right in the center of the strip and has a really nice pool. I think they have a pool cam on their website so you can go on there now and check it out! Good luck! Sounds like a great trip!

I'd say Mandalay Bay...It is all the way at the end, but you have the tram that takes you to NY, NY...the pool is awesome and isn't as crazy, and the casino is low key. You don't have the hustle and bustle of the other hotels since it's at the end. Make sure you ask for the renovated rooms tho, otherwise they'll stick you in the older ones. I wasn't crazy for MGM or the Luxor. MGM it takes forever to walk to your room. Casear's is nice but $$$. Mandalay and the Wynn are our favorites bc they are a little quieter and nicer. HTH! The hard rock is a little too far from the strip for a bachelorette party! I would say the girls at Mandalay and the boys at TI, Mirage or planet hollywood! The Palms is a great hotel for guys, really party like...but it is also far off the strip. If you are renting a car I would say the Palms for the guys.

We went last August and stayed in New York New York..... absolutely loved it. There was a live band playing at the 'big apple bar' every night and they were awesome.

My only thought is, while Mandalay is gorgeous and lots of fun, it's way out on the other end of the strip. I'd rather be more centrally located.

Treasure Island is supposedly reasonable...

I LOVE NY NY...they have the BEST dueling piano bar...so much fun! You just sing all night long with a crowd of people!

Ladies, you are all awesome!

Leena, I'm so jelly - I LOVE TheHOTEL at Mandalay Bay! My FH and I stayed there during their opening weekend a few years ago - awesome!!!

We have 11-12 total people going including me and FH, so we decided to let everyone book their own flight and we'd reserve the hotels.

Anyway, we are settled on MGM for the guys and most probably Mirage for the ladies (I really didn't want to stay at the bottom of the strip and apparently Mandalay bay has the best pool on the strip and Mirage has the 2nd best pool, so that works - I HOPE).

We stayed at the Excalibur. It is so beautiful like a castle. Perfect for a princess and really reasonable.

The Mirage is great for the guys.
