Re: HELP! Placecard Question!

If they are placecards - did the single people respond with the name of the guest?

I would write

miss jane smith and joe schmo

Mr. Joe schmo and jane smith

hope this helps

Re: HELP! Placecard Question!

I think we're going to have:
for singles:
Mr. John Smith

for singles w/ a guest:
Mr. John Smith and guest

for singles w/ a significant other:
Mr. John Smith and Ms. Jane Doe

Re: HELP! Placecard Question!

Our calligrapher told us to always use the name of the person if you can find out what it is. She also told us that MALE guests invited with a date should have a place card that reads:

Mr. Man Person and Guest

and females:

Ms. Female Guest and Escort

'Escort' actually means 'female date' and NOT prostitute despite the modern day connotation. This is what we did. Nobody commented on whether is was appropriate or otherwise.
