I was asked over the weekend to put together my bridal shower guest list and now I have a dilema. My FH is not close with his stepmother. He said she doesn't need to be there since his mother and her do not get along. I feel that she should be there. It's the right thing to do. What do you girls think?????

I think you should invite her if you want...hopefully his Mom can be a mature adult and deal with her there as well..

I agree. Wouldn't FH's dad be upset if she isn't invited? Is she a good part of FH's life or do they not get along either?

I think the right thing to do is invite her-and let it be her choice

Absolutely. It is right that no one immediate is left out. Even if mom and her don't get a long, they will be civil for the shower.....same for the wedding.

hmm, thats tough. if i was in that situation i think id try to talk to FH's mom about it and explain why youd like to have both of them there. id prob invite her and if shes uncomfortable she wont come, ya know.
Good luck.

Re: help please
I am the type of person who never wants to hurt anyones feelings and always keep peace. FH said I can do what I want. I know that FFIL would be hurt and I would never want to do that. Currently Fh and his mother aren't speaking. She is a very selfish woman. At this point he doesn't even want her invited. I do have to say she does deserve it though. At Christmas time she disrespected me and my mother (my mom was in the hospital and had just been diagnosed with cancer). FMIL was visiting for the holidays and felt I was inconviencing her because I was spending too much time at the hospital with my mother.

I say invite her, if she chooses to come then everybody will just have to act civilized for the time being and if she chooses not to come then that was her choice and at least you can rest easy by knowing that you invited her and she chose not to come on her own. They are adults and they should have enough respect for you to be in the same room together and be civil.
