My RD is tonight and my wedding is Saturday. I have so many things to do and now the florist is leaving me to solve this problem. We are using candelabras and the candles don't fit! The holder is too big and the taper candles won't stand up straight - they lean and move around. I have tried this sticky wax that comes in a tin, some wax dot things I found in the store, wrapping the bottom with tin foil, melting the bottom so it will cool in the holder and stay (it doesn't) - none of these things work. Please does anyone know or have any ideas how to get these candles to stand straight??? Thank you!

Your florist should be helping you with this issue.

Who is that florist.....
I would say call the floral director at Micheals - they would have better suggestions

Re: Help Please - ASAP!!!
I didn't buy the candles in the first place - the florist did. I am providing the candelabras, but the florist has the same one so she could have tried the candles. I agree the florist should fix this but she is not helping. Up until now, I've been very happy with this florist and she does good work, but this is really aggravating me. I do not have time for this and it should not be my problem. I went to Michaels and they only had that wax in a tin stuff - didn't work. I'm just about ready to try play-doh because nothing else is working.

Try this take paper towel and wrap the bottom of it tightly. (you can cover the paper towel with alum foil if you like). Don't be stingy with the paper towel. By doing this it should fit snuggly into the hole and not move.

Re: Help Please - ASAP!!!
What if the florist put that oasis stuff around the candle? You know that green foam stuff. They may be able to stuff it around the base. I would use a combination of things. Also what if they wrapped that florist tape or floral wire around it? Try to build the width of the candle and shove it in there. Krazy glue it if you have to! Good luck!!!

Maybe try posting on the vendor boards. If your florist won't help, maybe other ones would have a good idea.

Re: Help Please - ASAP!!!
Try felt cloth or cheese cloth, they sell them at Micheals or Fabric stores. cut into round circles of them, wrap them at the bottom of the candels, keep adding a layer of felt until it fits snug inside and doesn't move. Hope this helps.

Re: Help Please - ASAP!!!
okay i am yankee candles best customer and very thrifty....do you have a lighter, ciggarette or BBQ will do? Burn the bottom of the candles so they melt a lil and then stick them in the candleabra. If that doesn't work, tell your florist to get her a$$ to the candle store and get candles that fit. It is her job and it is your day, tell her to do the leg work!

Re: Help Please - ASAP!!!
When I worked in a craft store, we used to sell these little metal rings that were made to hold the candle upright. I think that I saw them in Michaels. I hope this helps.

Re: Help Please - ASAP!!!
What about taping the end of of the candle - with masking tape or scotch tape - thick enough to snuggly fit in the candle hole. I don't know, hmmmm the paper towel idea sounds good too - good luck

Re: Help Please - ASAP!!!
ok this isnt the end of the world - what you do is get the wax covered twine that they sell in home depot and wrap it around the bottom of the candles - heat it up to activate the wax and it will dry onto the candle - this will add the extra space you need to hold it up - yes your florist should ahve taken care of it but it will be ok not the end of the world - i do it all the time with grammy's candle holders the holes are huge and i cant find any candles to fit in them and it works really well - good luck dont stress

Yes! I never thought of doing it this way. I've always lit the candle, held it upside down to let the wax drip into the holder and then put the candle into the holder. When the melted wax hardens, it 'glues' the candle into place.
