Help! Priest problems!!!

Help! Priest problems!!!

Hi ladies!

I am in a huge bind! I am getting married on ONE MONTH and I have decided to switch priests. I found out some negatives things about the priest I booked and I also spoke to him last night an found out he has a wedding RIGHT before mine and RIGHT after mine, by less than an hour. I am afraid he is going to rush through our wedding and I don't want that (that is what I heard he does because he books so many weddings in one day)!

This is a nightmare! The ceremony is suppose to be the most important part. Between my FI and I we have three small children (from our previous marriages) and we don't want a priest to come in and make them feel rused.

Please, any suggestions would be wonderful!!

Thanks!

Christine

Good Morning,
Can you speak to someone at the Parish and ask if there is another priest that can marry you?

Re: Help! Priest problems!!!

I had a somewhat similar problem. The priest that was supposed to do my ceremony switched to another church. I just met the priest who will be doing my ceremony (in two months) this past weekend. I don't think it is a problem at all! I don't even have most of the details of the ceremony worked out yet! I love our new priest! Just make sure you meet with the new priest right away and establish some sort of relationship with him. That way by the time you get to the point a few weeks before the wedding you can just iron out the details. Hope this helps

Does your church have another priest that would perform the ceremony? If not, do you have any priests in your family or circle of friends? Also, maybe a priest from your FH's church will be willing to do it. The priest that is performing our ceremony is not from the parish where we are having it. All you need to do is get the permission of your church and an 'outside' priest can come in. It is easier than it sounds!

Re: Help! Priest problems!!!

Oh, I'm sorry I don't think I explained correctly. We are not getting married in a church. We are both divorced and don't have our annulments yet. We are getting married outside on the beach, but we wanted a reformed or independent Catholic Priest.

There have been some suggestions on this site such as :

Fr. Allmen, Fr. Wilshere, Fr. Ymana. I just wanted to get some feedback and see if any of you have used any of them or will use any of them??

Thanks!

Chris
