By when should the wedding dress be purchased/ordered if getting married summer 2005?

I still haven't even gone to try a dress on!!!

Now I am convinced I have a problem with procrastinating everything I do.

I just ordered my dress two weeks ago and my wedding is in april.

I started looking mid July..

You are fine-- I would start looking around though.

I would definitely start looking if I were you...I've heard that you should order the dress at least 8 months before the wedding...and you probably want a little time before that to shop at a few places and get an idea of what you like!

Thanks ladies......I just don't have it in me to go look...unfortunately I know why too.....and it has nothing to do with my amazing FI...hopefully I will feel differently in a few weeks. Well, on the bright side.......at least I know I have until Novemeber to purchase something. Thanks again for the quick response ladies

I ordered my gown in May, (I'm getting marreid May '05) they told me it could take up to 10 months for the gown to come in.......
It's in already. - So you never know.
At least go and LOOK - that way if you DO see something you love, you won't have to worry about not having enough time - Some designers take 8-10 months. -
And DON'T do what my friend did, (and I don't know if this is your case at all) But she insisted on putting off her gown shopping b/c she 'was going to lose weight' - well, 4 months before the wedding, NO weight loss, NO gown.........Extreme PANIC !!

I am a week before you. I have tried on about twenty gowns but need to keep looking. Of course, I am terrible at making decisions when it comes to myself, so i might be the exception.

I hope to find one and order by mid-October. Good luck!!

It just depends on the designer that you pick. Some gowns take 10 months, mine will be three months.

To this day I do not understand what takes so long for them to come in since they're not making it to fit you, they're just making it a size. I think the whole thing is a ploy, to be honest. Gets you out and spending your money earlier than you actually need to.

I bought my dress in April but won't order it until October. I wanted to take advantage of the trunk show but not order so soon so we worked out this arrangement. They told me I had to order by November in order to get it in time for my September 2005 wedding....go figure.

My wedding is next pril and I ordered my dress this past April. You have to remember that for most designers, it takes 10-16 weeks for the dress to come in once its ordered. You may want to order your dress now.

When I was looking, I was told that 6 months prior to the wedding is the cut-off. Anything past that may cause you to incur rush delivery charges. As mentioned above, though, it depends on the gown/designer.

You should start looking soon, though. You never know how long it may take you to find a gown you like.

I ordered mine in February for November. It came in a month ago!!! They say give about 9 months depending on the designer and popularity of the dress.
