During the recessional, who escorts the mother of the bride back down the aisle and when does she go? After the bridal party exits?

Normally the father of the bride would escort the mother of the bride back down the aisle. if there is no father, than if she has an escort or then she would just walk down herself. and yes, she would walk down after the bridal party, before the guests start.
