help, REggie keeps having accidents in and out of his crate

I thought he would grow out of this but it seems to be getting worse. Reggie, has accidents all the time in his cage and out he poops soo much its hard to keep up with him- sometimes its 5x per day, is this normal??

also I thought that puppies werent supposed to go in their cage, well I think reggie thinks of his cage as the second bathroom. He does go outstide when we take him out, At least 4 walks a day, but he still has 1-2more accidents in the house. We had tried many things and he is on a strict diet. Its getting very fustrating to say the least he is 9 months old and we have to walk him because we have no yard, aNy advic e??? Also he never lets us know when he has to go out.

I'm sorry to hear that he is having those problems!! I was going to tell u to maybe change up the food!!! I have Otis on Innova food and he loves it and very good for him!! Does he have diareha? how ever u spell it LOL!! Maybe call the vet and explain what is going on? Is the cage to small for him that he wants out so he figures if he goes in it he can come out??

I'm sorry! I was going to ask how large the crate is also. Is it alot bigger than him?

Its not that big, we have a divider to put in because the vet said to keep it small so there wouldnt be enough room for him to poop and not lie in it- usually dogs dont like to poop where they sleep but REggie doesnt seem to mind one bit!!!!!!!!

Chewie would poop and pee in there also and it was small. He is just now learning to hold it. I would think at 9 mnths. Reggie should hold it though. How many times do you feed him daily? Do you leave him w/ water? Chewie eats 2x a day.

he has no water during the day. I walk him in the morning then I feed him, then I walk him again. On the second morning walk he doesnt do anything for me. But when I come home from work, 10hrs later he has pooped and peed in the crate. then we walk him again and feed him then walk him he usually has about 2 accidents during the courst of the night when we are home becuase we never no when he has to go out. we try to take him out 3 times in the evening but our timing is wrong or something. HE does these runs ( like super fast around the house and he poops right after) we cant get him outside fast enough and he always goes inside after these sprints he does. HE thinks its ok to go inside even though we reprimand him not too. Im soooo fustrated

Can you maybe get a dog walker in? Ten hours seems like a long time for a puppy to wait to poop. Maybe one of the neighborhood kids would do it for $20/week or something when they get home from school.

10 hours is definitely too long. I only leave Chewie for 4 hours at the most and he doesn't go in the crate. I go home at lunch to let him out. He can't hold it for more than 5-6 hours now. I think it takes about a year for them to be able to hold it all day. Can you go home at lunch?

I wish I could get a dog walker but we honestly cannot afford one, esp with the baby on the way.

10 hours is definitely too long. I only leave Chewie for 4 hours at the most and he doesn't go in the crate. I go home at lunch to let him out. He can't hold it for more than 5-6 hours now. I think it takes about a year for them to be able to hold it all day. Can you go home at lunch?

Dh was going home during lunch until he was 6 months old to feed him and take him out but he doesnt have enough time to eat lunch and it was really taking a toll on him.

It sucks going home for me too and I have been bringing my lunch cause I have no time to stop anywhere. Its annoying but I know Chewie would go in his crate if I didn't and hes 6 months. I think thats the only way Reggie won't go in the crate. 10 hrs is a long time to hold it. Good luck!

I am crate training my dog and, and so far I have been lucky except for today. It was the longest we had left him cuz we had to go to work. There is a spray you can get that eliminates the pee odor. It's a good idea to use it cuz they can still smell their mark without it. They will just keep peeing in the same spot. It's their territory!!
