Ok - I got my STD cards in - they are gorgeous! They are on vellum with some script and raised lettering etc. Very beautiful and I could not resist them. That being said, I have written a fairly extensive, newsy infomational newsletter to go with them (many of our out of towners have never been to LI, are not aware that a MacArthur airport exists etc). Problem: NEwsletter is 8.5 x 11 (2 pages) and the STD's are like, 4x6 cards. I am worried about the tacky factor of folding my newsletters into quarters and stuffing them in behind the cards. No, I can't leave off any of the info in the newsletter to make it one page. I'm more concerned with the fact that it is an 8.5 x 11 piece of paper that needs to be folded in the first place.
What do I do? Try and cram the info onto some same size card stock?

Re: Help - Save the Date Newsletters
Can you fold the newsletter in 3 and put everything in a #10 envelope??

Yeah, why not tri-fold it? that's what I did and I used a no. 10 envelope.

I agree, trifold it instead of putting it all in a small envelope.

Personally, I couldnt handle the mix and match sizes....so I would suggest getting as much info on a matching sheet of the same paper and size.

Re: Help - Save the Date Newsletters
This may be complicating things a bit, but if you have time, can you make little booklets, with all the info, and have the booklets same size as the STD cards? I just think it will look nicer, but its more work. You can probably just format your Word to have 2 columns/page, then cut the columns and fold in the middle, when all is done, and staple it?
Or, how about printing your 2 pages as a doublesided single sheet?
But to be honest, I am shocked as to how much info you're including in the STD cards!!! I am just clueless as to what you even wrote there
Can some of the info be sent along at the time of invitation?

I did the trifold thing too. Also I put the text in two column format to squeeze all on one page.

Re: Help - Save the Date Newsletters
Duh. Putting it into two columns never ocurred to me - good idea. You guys are saying you did not use the small envelopes that came with your STD cards and instead used like a generic letter sized envelope? Not like boring white business envelopes? Did you use heavier stock or anything?
Stef - any ideas as to how I can format Word or whatever to get my info onto a card sized paper? Im afraid I put the cart before the horse this time...

Re: Help - Save the Date Newsletters
You can set up MS Word to the size of the card you have. So long as your printer will accept it, Word can print it.

Re: Help - Save the Date Newsletters
You can also do two seperate mailings. One now with the save the dates that you had made. Then in a month from now the newsletter when it would be closer to the time the guests would be booking the flights and hotels.
