Help! Silverfox or Velvet, any negative feedback?

Help! Silverfox or Velvet, any negative feedback?

Hi ladies, trying to help my daughter finalize selection of photographer and videographer. Some of the popular ones on LIW are no longer available on her date. Not sure if she wants to continue making appointments, but as of now she likes Silverfox and Velvet. Silverfox video is quite $$.

I have not read any negatives or problems with either of these. Just wondering, was anyone NOT HAPPY after they saw their proofs or albums? Anything we should know about?

Many of the Silverfox raves are from back when John (owner) was still shooting, we're told he no longer does the weddings so we would not have him.

Please post or FM me, ANY help will be appreciated!!

TIA

I booked Silverfox for my wedding, and I'm very excited about this vendor. FH and I absolutely love their work. They presented us with so many albums to view and in so many styles. We met with our photojournalist, Franco, and really liked the work that he did. (I think you can view each photographers work on their website) GL with your search!

FH and I booked Silverfox. We heard good things about them, and since photo and video are one of the more important things for our day $$ wasn't a huge issue. I felt we got a good deal from them. our package for photo and video with everything we needed was about $5000. We met with John when we signed our contract and he threw in a few extras for us too. We booked Franco (the general manager) for our photographer (we are only having one) He is a young guy and FH and I felt that he would fit in with our 'crowd' a bit better. He started out doing photojournalistic, and has experience in traditional shooting as well, so FH and I felt that he would be the best option.

I know that John isn't booking weddings to shoot himself, but I have heard that he sometimes make surprise appearences and shoots some film ! !

not one bad word to say about them. John is still involved -just spoke to him the other day. I was so happy with our proofs and with the service.

My friend used Silverfox and loved them. The only complaint she had was that she waited a long time for her proofs. I don't know what the reason was. I met with Silverfox and liked them but booked with Patken.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

We only met with Velvet. I knew I wanted them for photo and video after looking at Camacho's pictures. Bob is so great to work with. When we met with him the first time we gave him a budget and he made a package for us. I called him a week later and told him we needed to lower our budget and it was not a problem. He took out the parent albums which neither set of parents cared for (i will make one on shutterfly), and met our budget.

yes, I have negative feedback about V elvet.
I made it clear to Bob that I wanted posed table photos. He made it clear to me that he thought they were unnecessary and that photographers don't like to do them because they're a lot of work.

Obviously, that rubbed me the wrong way. I explained their importance to me and FH and he finally agreed to take them.

And then, guess what? He did NOT take posed table photos. He took the lamest candids when people were eating, making weird faces, obscured by other people's heads, completely unaware that he was photographing them.

How hard is it to at least wave to the people to have them look at you?

For crying out loud, since then I've been to a Sweet 16 and a baby's first birthday party where the photographers took the two seconds it takes to at least wave and get NICE shots of couples at the table.

I am heartbroken about this and some other things I feel were missed opportunities.

Yes, I have discussed these things with Bob, and no, I was NOT satisfied with his response. I feel he was just defensive and actually rude to me.

ETA: And yes, I had found him very nice and accomodating to work with before-hand..........but that all changed as of the last meeting before the wedding.
