i went dress shopping with 2 of my bridesmaids today. both are tall (between 5'8' and 5'11') and we had some trouble finding dresses that fit them proportionally. the 2-piece dresses were too short. according to the woman at the store, apparently no designer offers a 'tall' size option. the top piece could be ordered with an extra length at the bottom to make it longer, but the waist then would be too high.
has anyone run into this problem? any suggestions on designers to look at??

Re: help ... tall bridesmaids dresses??
I'm 5'8' and every wedding I've ever been in they order extra length and it's fine. When I had a 2 piece it looked fine on me.

Re: help ... tall bridesmaids dresses??
I was in a BP last summer and three of the bm's were 5'10 and over and they were able to order the dresses with extra length and it was fine.

Re: help ... tall bridesmaids dresses??
My bridesmaid ordered this dress and she's 5'10. I loved the way it looked on her and she didn't order extra length, but she's not wearing heels either.
I'm just under six feet tall, so I notice 'tall' sizes. The only one I've seen is JCrew. I do like their dresses. The problem is that buying extra length is good for the skirt if the rest of the dress fits--but often they don't. I have a problem with bodices being too short, and hems of tops being way too short. It's hard to say, some manufacturers are good that way, some aren't. I have a problem with Ann Taylor--I like their clothes, but their dresses don't usually fit me, although I can wear their separates. My Casablanca wedding gown fit me perfectly.
Have you looked at JCrew's dresses? Most of them aren't as formal as many BM dresses, they come in limited colors, but I like them, and your BMs could certainly wear them again.

One of my BM's is a modelesque, tall chic. She ordered an extra length. This way they could pull it up under the top piece so her waist doesnt show and its still long enough. It's a 2 piece dress! It's by watters and watters!
