We are trying to rent a tent for some events prior to the wedding, however the quotes are about $1000-1500. Could you guys recommend a place to get a tent.

Years ago I used Swan - all I can say is that everything worked out fine. My FSIL is using Tanglewood Catering - I think they are putting up the tent too.

we use AAA party rentals for tents at work- not sure what size you are looking for but they're rates are very competitive.

The size of the tent definitely affects the price of the rental. Here in NC, a 20 x 40 foot Frame tent would cost abot $500, but that would be just the top of it. If you wanted sides and/or covered poles, and/or a light(s), it would be an additional charge, plus there is typically a set-up fee. No idea as to where on LI to find one though--have you checked your yellow pages for party rental companies?

I also thought tents would be cheap, but my tent is costing me as much as an RH.
Size, whether you want a pole or frame tent, sides, lighting, heating, liners, floors etc, it will add up.
I'm using NYTent they are pretty reliable well known company, but I think you can do a bit cheaper.

I'm having our co-ed shower next month at our new home and we needed a tent also. I called about 12-15 different tent companies and the cheapest I got was from Douglas Tent.

A 10x10 easy up from Walmart is about $90 or a little nice one from BJs goes for about $200. You can resell on Craigs when done. I don't know if one or 2 10x10s would give you enough room though.
