Re: Help - this is killing us!
I think that they fill each half and then meld the two halves together. Ever notice the faint line that goes around it?Eta - On Wikipedia.org
Creme Eggs are manufactured by making a chocolate shell in a half-egg shaped mould, which is then filled with white fondant and a dab of yellow fondant to simulate the yolk. Two mould halves are closed very quickly and cooled to allow the chocolate to set. When the moulds are opened, the eggs fall onto a conveyor which transports them, first to the foiling machines and then to the finished packing. The eggs are manufactured at the Bournville factory in Birmingham at the rate of 1.5 million per day. They are one of the few Cadbury's products made solely in the UK and exported worldwide.

Re: Help - this is killing us!
It should work, and you can see the molding lines on the edges of the egg. If you stand the egg up with the smaller side at the top, trace your finger arround it and you will feel and see the molding lines. If you hold it from the bottom end for a few minutes the center falls down a bit so that you end up with the air bubble on top. You can see how the above posters description would create the center. It works perfectly becuase they temper the chocolate first. (A series of heating and cooling the chocolate) to create the mold. They pour in the filling when the shell is at a cooler stage and then would lightly heat it to seal the chocolate edges.
