HELP!!! THOSE WHO DID NOT HAVE A RECEIVING LINE

My timing is extremely tight and our photographer says that timewise we cannot afford to have it (ceremony ends at noon, cocktail hour is 1 p.m. and 45 minutes away from church).

Anyway my wedding is Saturday. I don't want to be rude. since some of my FH's students, and some friends from church etc. are coming who we could not afford to invite to the reception.

I was thinking of having the pastor mention something at the end of the ceremony and having a paragraph in our program. What would be appropriate wording??? So far I have 'the bride and groom ask that you wait outside while they take pictures.' Bubbles will be distributed so you can shower them when they leave.'

Help? Can I say it nicer or should I just flat out say 'due to time constraints there will not be a receiving line but we thank you all for coming, and will say hello to those coming to the reception?

FMIL went to a wedding where they did something similar and wrote on the last page of the program:

Due to time constraintswe will not be having a receiving line.
However we wish to ask everyone to remain after the ceremony for a photograph.

Hope that helps a little

Actually a photographer gave me a tip that as you exit down the aisle people will follow you, turn at the end and head back up to the front of the church via the side. People wont realize and just continue out the church and you could snap a couple pics in front as they all exit then make a grand exit once everyone is out, people wont follow you back up to the front of the church.

Hope this helps

We didn't have a receiving line but instead said hello to everyone and thanked them for coming during the cocktail hour. Good Luck!!!!

I'm following kelwiss' gameplan. Daylight will be short that day - so I don't want to waste it inside the church for a receiving line. We want to say hello to as many people as possible at the cocktail hour. We're paying good $$$ for a DJ - I want to dance all night

Excellent advice, Tara! Wish I had thought of that.

We didn't want/plan on a receiving line (wanted to get pictures done and out of the way!), but as soon as we got to the back of the church, people started lining up to congratulate us.
