My wedding will be formal - I will wear a long gown with a long train. We did not specify black tie but we keep telling people it's formal when they want to know what to wear.
So one of the groomsmen said that he keeps hearing that men in the in the wedding party shouldn’t wear tuxes if the wedding is not black tie. They say its akward and never done.
Is this true??????

the groomsmen definitely wear tuxes. my wedding isn't black tie, but the GM will definitely be in a tux!! i think your GM is trying to pull something over on your groom!

Proper etiquette says that unless it's a formal evening affair, the men (including groomsmen) wear suits. I personally have never been to a wedding, no matter what time of day, that the groomsmen did not wear tuxedos. My wedding is at 11:30am, and my bridal party will all be wearing tuxes.

I dont think it's true. It's better that the groomsmen wear tuxes regardless though, how else would they stand out from the reg guests, and have others know they're in the bridal party?

Ditto!!! I've never been to a wedding where the groomsmen were not in tuxes actually!!!
Even if what he told you was true, which it isn't, it's YOUR wedding...!!!

Thanks guys! I didn't think dealing with GMs would be more frustrating than with picking BM dresses. They're doing everything to get out of renting a tux.
