Help us pick a ring for him

Help us pick a ring for him

Vaughn was dead set on getting a Tungsten wedding ring for our ceremony because he told me they 'look cool' and are 'indestructible but one of our friends recently dropped his Tungsten ring in his garage and it shattered. From what I've read, Tungsten breaking isn't uncommon . What really turned me off is that when our friend tried to contact the manufacturer, they pointed out that their warrantee says they're not responsible for the sentimental value of their jewelry. I understand that it's just a ring, but it's also a symbol of our marriage so I'd prefer we didn't get a ring that may break. Any ideas on what other material is in a similar price range?

My FH wanted a tungsten ring as well but when we went to look for rings the jeweler actually said they are strong but if something should happen to him and they have to get it off they wouldn't be able to cut it off him because it's too strong. That's when we decided to get a gold ring instead. We will most likely get an inexpensive ring for him to wear to work so he doesn't damage the good ring.

My fiancee wanted a titanium ring because it is the most durable material that there is.

This!! In the case that the tungsten needs to be taken off they have to shatter it. Ask the jeweler about the removal process for all of the jewelry, if you have more questions.

Im confused. tungsten shatters but if you jam your finger they cant cut it off??
Originally I thought about getting one for FH bc he will barely wear his ring (he isn't allowed to at work bc he deals with machinery and he cannot stand wearing jewelry) but I think we are going to go with a different material.

It has to do with the properties of the different materials. If your finger gets jammed with gold or silver band they can just cut it off....gold is actually considered a 'soft' metal. The properties of tungsten make it such that it cannot be cut off. In any situation in which the tungsten ring needs to be removed they secure to points of contact on the ring and apply pressure to shatter the ring.

Titanium & Tungsten according to this article both can be cut off.
