Help! What food platter should I get to pick on at the bar after the wedding?

Supposedly, it can't be anything that has to be kept hot, because the kitchen will be closed. No chafing dish stuff or anything.

So, picture it. You just went to a wedding and stuffed your face. Just had wedding cake and ice cream. Now, an hour later, you're drinking at the bar. What would you want to eat?

I can't, for the LIFE of me, think of anything!!!!!

I would say chips and salsa and stuff, but we're doing a Mexican station at the wedding.

My FH suggested finger sandwiches. Ya think?? Is that 'drinking food?'.

Wait a minute, stop the presses...

there is a mexican station at the wedding?!!

HOLY CRAP THAT JUST MADE ME EVEN MORE EXCITED THAN I ALREADY WAS!!!!!!!!!! WOOO HOOOO!!!!!!!

Ok, I've calmed down: I would suggest nuts, pretzels, finger sandwiches like Joe said (that was a good idea), patato chips, doritos, etc. Nothing too crazy-- just stuff people like to munch on while drinking (I'm sure everyone will be pretty stuffed from the wedding).

Can't wait for that Mexican Station BTW!!!

I think the finger sandwiches would be good.

Being an expert nosher, I'd say the following

If it's good chips and salsa, that can never go wrong. Seriously, even if you've got a mexican station at the wedding, chips and salsa always work (imo). Also, pretzels are also standard bar fare because they're salty and substantial, but not greasy or heavy. Some cut up veggies couldn't hurt in a situation like that, where everyone is stuffed to the gills and thinking, oh man, what have i done, i ate so much delicious food, but i'm noshy. what to do?

If you think that's not enough, finger sandwiches could work, too. We Jews have a habit of having corned beef and pastrami around for emergencies. But I don't know that that's necessary, some pretzels, chips and salsa, and cut up veggies should do it.

Okay... so I'm already spending $150, plus tax to keep the bar open until 1.

My FH says forget paying for any extra food. He didn't realize we were already paying $$ to keep the bar open, without getting anything for it, so we're not paying anything for food.

I'm just going to ask her to put the chips and pretzels out and call it a night. We're broke enough at this point! lol

150 plus tax for the bar to stay open? ouch!

yeah then i would not go out of my way for extra food-- what you said should be good enough. i'm sure everyone will be happy with that.

Yeah forget spending the extra. Get some chips and people will be fine with that. What more can they expect already! You are going all out! Your guests are very lucky!

what the ? they're charging you money for the privellege of your guests buying their booze?!

Can you do it another place? At this point, with all the $ you've laid out, maybe just spend that 150 on booze, beer and snacks and have it in someone's room or another bar or something.

i'm sorry, that's bullsh t

I agree...chips salsa, pretzels, chips in general, some celery, cherry/grape tomatoes, carrots and ranch or bleu cheese to dip and you have a GREAT snack.
