HELP! What's the difference between FOCCUS and pre cana?
We are just about at the 6 month mark and I haven't heard from the church. I figured I would call just to see whats up and the lady who answered said I have to do FOCCUS first and then we could do pre cana. I thought this was all the same thing, but I guess not. Please help me out, I'm so confused!

FOCCUS is a 'test' that you and FH take, it's like 100 or so multiple choice questions and it is supposed to open the lines of communication and get you and FH to discuss important things that maybe you have never discussed before. Then the church reviews each of your answers and points out topics that you and FH should talk about before the wedding. Pre-Cana is the actual premarriage counseling that you either do over a weekend or do once a week for a few weeks. If you have any questions FM me. HTH

After I registered on line throuhh precana, they sent me my password and I took my foccus, as did fh, on line.

the FOCCUS is the 'couples inventory' you take and then the 'answers' get sent away and you have a follow up with someone to talk about the areas that you 'disagreed on' i thought it was awesome. it makes you realize all the things you have talked about and stuff you need to talk MORE about.
precana is sitting with other couples and talking about marriage. my sister LOVED it.

thanks girls. I called the church back and lets just say thats the least of my worries now. Apparantly the Deacon we sat with is no longer there and no one told us and we are missing all kinds of pwk! good thing I called today! Oye, I need a drink!

Do they have something like that for couples who aren't doing a traditional church or temple wedding? I'm Catholic and FH is Jewish. . .we're doing a non-denominational ceremony, and I think it would be REALLY great if we could do something like that before we got married.

Is it possible that we didnt have to do the FOCCUS test? We are schedule for pre-cana in March.

I'm wondering if it depends on the church. They told me we had to do FOCCUS before we could do the precana so I would think since you guys are set up with precana already that they would have mentioned it.
