What is the name of the item that you use to place hot pans on? Can you girls tell that I don't cook?

hmm.. I don't think that's what it is. It's usually a square shaped fabric or they also have ones made out of i guess ceramic & you use it to place hot pans that have just come out of the oven. sorry, I'm confusing
