Help with a reception/restaurant

Hi,
As some of you know I'm planning to get married in Manhattan on the 26th of May...
I need to find a Manhattan eatery for a small group of 8 for a casual yet yummy lunch/reception...I guess a place that is comfortable and casual but NICE as we have 2 young boys under the age of 10 to take into consideration...
Any sugggestions will be great!
Thanks,
Arlene

Any idea what part of town you will be in? That might help people direct you where to go.

I am having my rehearsal dinner at Rialto on Prince and Elizabeth.

With 8 people, you can really go anywhere, so it is really a matter of what kind of food you want.

Really Casual:
Patsy's (Italian)
Carmines (Italian)
Tony DiNapoilis (Italian)

Semi-Formal
Candela (They host weddings here, so I'm sure they can put together a pre-fix for you)
Cibo (Almost had my RD here- they have a wonderul prix-fix menu)
Serafina
Cafe Espanol (The Bleeker location has private rooms)
Arte Cafe

Loungey
Sushi Samba
Suba

There are sooo many places. Also try Citysearch and filter by Private Rooms. HTH!!

that's so funny... I probably saw you! I haven't been there in awhile, but I LOVE it!

We celebrated New Year's 2001 there (well, dinner before midnight, anyway). Lobster fra Diablo. Yummy!!!!

Not too sure on what part of town as I have not been to NY for 3 years...
Well if we plan to get married at City Hall (lower Manhattan) and work our way uptown to get our final shots in Central Park - I guess somewhere in that area?
**I hope I got my bearings right**

you can do Mickey Mantle's... right across the street from Central Park.

Or there's a great seafood place called 'Docks' on the Upper West Side... soooo yummy!

Re: Help with a reception/restaurant

There are toooons of resteraunts around the central park area--
I'm most familiar with the west side--

There is a great Italian resteraunt called Nonna on Columbus Ave and like 84/5th street. I belive they are open for lunch during the week (i know they are on menupages.com)--could be good for kids and adults alike, and only a block away from Central Park (near great lawn). Its northern italian I belive-- a good wine list, not too noisy, but not too stuffy either.... I've eaten dinner there a few times, and the food was excellent. There's also Carmine's on the upper west side.

I've never been there, but I've heard wonderful things about: Ocho (columbus, around 81st street--not sure if they are open for lunch and/or how appropriate for kids) and also Isabelle's which is further south on Columbus.

What about Little Italy - there's Sal Anthony's, Da Nico, Il Cantile and a ton more places. I eat in Sal Anthony's a lot and always see small receptions in the back area and upstairs.
